I'm looking for recommendations for counselors in the Houston area... preferably the north side. The Woodlands and Spring is even better.

I've been dealing with some depression for a couple years now and think it's time to see someone about it. I have no idea where to start looking. I would hate to blindly start trying out counselors with how pricy they can be.

I've seen Heidi Grover and Spring Grove Counseling for the last couple of years. The office is in Spring, and she also does Zoom sessions.

Wow. That's disappointing, but not entirely surprising considering everything that's happened the past couple of years.

Not sure if this is outside the geography that you are looking for, but my experience with Gary Malone in Cypress was a really good one.

Also, just a quick note to commend you for taking this step and being open about it. I'll save the mental health advocacy speech and just say that I hope that you can make the progress that you are looking for. Your first step is a huge one.

Thank you! I'm willing to drive anywhere within reason if it could lead to me getting help. And I appreciate the kind words. I'm okay- but hoping to get some help before things spiral. No more playing "tough guy". I've learned how unhealthy that can be.

This is brutal. Just about everyone is either not seeing new patients or doing virtual appointments only.

I understand some people are fine with virtual appointments, but they aren't for me. It's crazy how they stress mental health and seeing someone but make it so hard to see you.

I know a couple of the larger churches in The Woodlands have counseling centers. They typically work by donation but would be a great listening ear.

Do NOT give up! Yes indeed...many others are in need of the same help but I promise someone will come available as other situations change. It does take awhile to find someone. I certainly admire anyone out there who is smart enough to know to ask for help! Good for you! Just be patient. Hang in there :-)
