For that price, just get a peloton tread.

You can pay a Kenyan to run for you for under $4k.

I have a Peloton tread and it's been great. The responsiveness for inclines and speed are perfect for intervals or hill work. It was more than what I set out to spend but after running on quite a few it felt the best. I also love the marathon prep classes really push me in a way I haven't before in my speed work.
Let me know if you have any specific questions about it

Not in the market, but can you just do a free run on the peloton tread?

Not going to lie, kind of annoying to me that you can't on the bike. Or I guess you can, but don't get any metrics. At least that's what I've heard.

There are scenic ones on the bike and tread. I do a lot of the classes just at my own pace but will hit an incline that they call out.

So say I want to do a 50 mile training ride, can I just get on the bike and do that? Do I have to have a peloton subscription even though I'm not doing a class?

I stumbled upon the Landice line when I bought a used one a few months ago. We really like it plus they have lifetime warranty.

If you don't have a subscription it won't record anything because you aren't signed in but you can just ride for 50 min and adjust your cadence and resistance. Same with the tread, I can just start running without starting up a class or logging in so no sub required just like any other treadmill. It just won't log anything to your account.

Good to know. I was under the impression it wouldn't even tell you miles, speed, cadence, etc if you weren't logged in.

What's the quality of the Tread itself?

I just checked the tread and without logging in (just from the screen where you choose the profile) it shows speed and incline but not distance. I didn't wipe it or anything so it might have more options if you aren't signed in with any accounts.

I *think* the bike has a "just ride" option if you aren't logged in. But honestly I wouldn't get the peloton bike if you aren't going to do classes. If you are training for racing, I'd get a smart trainer. I got the bike and rode it more before I started running more seriously. Now it gets some rides to shake out my legs and my wife is starting to use it more.

Yeah, I was thinking more as a multitasker. My wife loves classes, so get the peloton for her. Then having it just to double as an indoor trainer for me, so I'd do free rides.

I think it has good build quality. I think the negative experiences you see are more from a bad install. Some people it is set up by a third party (XPO) and they are hit and miss if they install everything correctly. Mine was installed by Peloton employees and has been solid. No rocking even at higher speeds and inclines.

I've mentioned this before but the responsiveness is amazing. I used to do intervals at my work gym because my Sole took a while to change speeds. The Peloton is even better than the commercial one at work.

Other things. I love the slatted belt. It feels more like the road to me. It is quieter than my old Sole but some people think it's loud. Mine is in the basement so it doesn't bother anyone.

So I'm that case you will be able to see speed and cadence since you can log in with your account (I was going under the assumption that you didn't want any subscription). If you don't order it during the Black Friday sale feel free to use my code to get $100 in accessories. R544PF

Surely you mean $500, right? Even the machines at nice gyms can't be $5,000.

I have a middle of the road Proform from Academy. Maybe around $500. I've put a lot of miles on it over the past few years and it works perfectly.

The peloton tread has a relatively weak motor so it will be interesting to see how long they last.

I have a Sole F63 that I've put almost 2k miles on; most of that between 7 and 11 mph. It's held up nicely and I only paid $500 for it. Looks like you can find it for about $900 right now.

It has been a while but Woodway makes some of the best, I am sure Rogue or Xebex have something of good quality

I have a Sole F85 with around 4,000 miles on it. It has worked great. I've had to replace both tread rollers at different times. Replaced the motor last year and it runs just fine. Replacement parts are free. Customer service has been a breeze when calling to get the parts. Replacing the parts has been easy.

I purchased for around $2000 and could not see myself dropping another $3K for a more for a fancier treadmill

Why would you go over $2K. Buy the best Sole on sale at Dick's.

How much was it to replace tread and motor?

I bought my Nordictrack C900 for $150 off of Craigslist and can't imagine spending $5k for a treadmill.
The slats on the Peloton one for look pretty damn cool though.

I do not know if this question is directed at me but parts are free for life. There's plenty of tutorials on YouTube on how to correctly fix the machine by yourself. All replacement parts have been easily replaced by me.

If we're willing to consider $4K for the Tread, would you consider the Nordictrack X32i? From all of the reviews and marketing I'm seeing several key advantages on the Nordictrack. Thoughts?
The Pilot

I'd strongly consider the Nordic. As I mentioned earlier my biggest concern with The Tread would be the small motor being able to handle a heavy workload over time.

Comparison of the two.

Well, despite some warnings we ordered the Tread. My wife was for it so that sealed the deal. I didn't have a "Peloton Wife" ordeal!

Got the extended warranty and a few weights. After tax, shipping and install it's about $5K.
