Howdy all, I'll try and keep this short:
3 years ago I wore out my labrum doing work-related manual labor. Repetitive, unusual motions. It was initially diagnosed as bicep tendonitis, but months of PT went by without results so they went in and did a bankart repair.
The surgeon (Plano Orthopedic) seemed concerned about my shoulder popping out of socket - something that has never once happened before - so the labrum was made extra tight. Regaining range of motion took many painful months. Also, Work Comp pulled the plug as soon as I had range of motion back. I couldn't yet do a push-up.
It's been about two years since. I have issues here and there with pain or inflammation, which isn't surprising because I've had to go it on my own. I'm not sure if I'm overworking, underworking, etc.
For the last ~8 months things have been good. I've been using the weight machines at the gym. Pretty modest amounts of weight. I try and hit as many motions as possible to keep things secure and balanced. Internal/external, chest and back, bicep tricep shoulder press, pull-downs, planks, etc. My goal is to get back to doing pull-ups someday soon.
About two months ago, I think I over-did it on a bicep workout. My arms were very sore for a few days and ever since, I've had a twinge of discomfort in my bicep at all times. Sometimes on the muscle, sometimes in the shoulder, usually on the inner bicep. Went to a local doctor (downtown Dallas) who prescribed it as bursitis or tendonitis - take some Alleve, do some sleeper stretch, slowly work in some very light bicep work.
But two months later it feels about the same. I'm not sure if I'm doing too much, too little, stretching too hard, etc. But it's been nearly 3 years since the initial injury and I'm going out of my mind. I've been without two fully-useful arms for a large portion of that. For the record, I'm only 28.
Last night I did some frustrated google searching and see that Tendonitis should only take a few weeks, and that NSAIDs can possibly hinder tendon recovery. What the ****.
I need a shoulder doctor that won't simply send me out the door with a prescription and an X-Ray bill. At the very least, Id like to hear from someone who has maybe been there before.
I checked another thread for recommendations. Any specific doctors in DFW you can recommend for bicep or shoulder pain, I'm interested.
Thanks in advance
