Looking for the above. I have an 11 year old that really needs to exercise more, and he loves WipeOut, Ninja Warrior. He's dying to do something like that, and I thought it would be a good way to get him interested in fitness, cardio, and strength training. I also exercise a lot better when training for something, so it would really help me too.

As I look around, all the races I find are 16 years old and up. Just wondering if anyone knew of an event that had a lower age requirement. We live around Dallas but it might be worth a weekend trip if we could find something.

Spartan Race does a Kids race... http://www.spartankids.com/

Edit: Looks like there will be one at AT&T Stadium in June. I ran the Sprint here last year and it was a good time, and much "cleaner" than a usual Spartan Race.

Looks cool. Do they let parents go with the kids for these or at least walk beside the course?

I'm actually not sure. My kids aren't old enough yet so I haven't watched any of these races. They are usually going on at the same time as the adult race. I don't see why you couldn't follow along on the outside though.

Just checked. Can't run the course with the kids, and they say visibility can be limited from the spectator area. I talk to him about it, but I would prefer something where we could race together.

What about the one below? It says there is no age restriction, only a 42" height requirement.

My 5 year old did the kids' mud run at Battlefrog in south Dallas last weekend. He had fun. I was not excited about the $20 spectator fee though and even less excited about the $400 fan assembly repair my car needed after parking in the terrible field they used as a lot. Maybe spectator fees are common for obstacle events but it was a first for me and soured me on it.

Where are you from?

There are Ninja Warrior gyms all over the place now. You just need to know where to look. Half of the clients are kids and they have started doing kid competitions.

I said Dallas, because thats the nearest metro area, but we live out in the boonies. I looked around and the closest thing to that is about an hour away.

Sorry I missed it in the OP. Just re-read it.

Yeah the closest for you would be Obstacle Warriors also known as Lil' Ninjas. That's probably the one you're referring to.
