I'm looking for 180 - 200 lbs of bumper weights and an Olympic bar for a garage setup. I don't need anything fancy, just your basic weight/bar combo. I see decent deals online from time to time, but usually the shipping gets you. I'm in Houston if that makes a difference.

I think muscledriver.com has some packages that ship free. I think Rogue also has free shipping if you do a bar and plates.

I'm sure you've already checked, but the first place I look for weights is always the local and surrounding area Craigslist if used gear is OK.

I don't know why I want to say it is April, but I believe there is going to be a big price break around then. We were told it was going down about 30 cents a pound due to the overall price of iron. When we were buying a large quantity - 5,000 lbs, this is what they told us.

"Get RXD" is out of Houston and has comparable prices, but I'm not sure how their equipment stands up to the competition. ROGUE seems to be a bit higher than the rest of the competition but I know they have a good reputation; however, their shipping kills you.

I think Fringesport has free shipping as well. I bought some OFW (One Fit Wonder) bumpers from them at a discount since I was in Austin and picked them up at their headquarters. They may have a Houston distributor who'll discount as well.

How much did you pay to pick up in Austin?

It was a couple of years ago. I think I paid something like $75-80 for a pair of 25lb bumper plates and I negotiated a Fringesport t-shirt into that deal as well.

Get Rx'd will more than get the job done especially for a garage training bar and bumpers.
