CG boot camps are pretty tough on shoes, at least with me in them, and I've had trouble finding a pair of shoes that will last without my toes punching holes in the uppers or the tread separating or the toe guard peeling off. I've had the best luck with some plain Jane Nike Lunar Glides from Academy a few years back and have had trouble finding anything that will last as long in a more expensive shoe (thinking they would be better because more expensive is always better, right?).
The past few pairs have been Inov8 240, Nike Free Trainer 5.0, Nike Free 3.0 and I tried a pair of Reebok Nanos but returned them because they had no grip for off pavement work.
I've tried my dedicated trail running La Sportivas a few times, but I'd rather keep those in decent condition for a few runs later this year. I've been eyeing some Brooks Cascadia, but I'm afraid the trend of destroying mildly expensive shoes will continue.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a solid cross trainer that will stand up to workout abuse and last longer than 4 months?
