That form is horrible in my mind, especially that last rep. Not to mention she is bringing the bar down all of about 5 inches because of how wide her grip is.

I thought that was how they did it in powerlifting. Pre arch your back so you don't arch during the lift and it seems like lots of people use a wide grip.

That is beyond impressive. I don't know how anyone can try to minimize that achievement.

I am blown away how she is able to lift that. She looks pretty small.

And I the girls from Allen are around that same age. I think they can do about a 1:28 or so half marathon

Definitely impressive. As for form, that's proper technique for power lifting according to this handy little clip... Power Lifting Form

BTW, did anyone notice the chic at the end who looks like she could murder all of us with her pinky finger?!?!

The Russians have always been ahead of us in the "sports science" dept. She will be a he w/in 10 years.

Seriously, that's strong.

Check out this girl http://www.youtube.com/user/doctorvibe.

She holds records in a bunch of lifts last I heard. Don't know if they still stand.

Yea but can she do that with a little Russian baby strapped to her stomach?

That much back arch seems excessive. I know a lot if power lifters arch their backs, because it decreases the distance the bar must travel. But you are definitely straining when you do it to the extent she is. I'd say if you have room to fit more than an arm under you're overdoing it.

Surprised the chick at the end has a pretty face....I would.

Unfortunately it isn't excessive...it's powerlifting. Like the dude said in the video above, it isn't about building muscle it's just about moving the most amount of weight up and down and therefore shortening that path.

Again, that's powerlifting.

holy **** snacks. Sure she isn't moving it far, but honestly it's amazing for a 13 year old girl to simply avoid being crushed by that much weight.

The crazy thing is that she doesn't look overly muscular. I knew (just an acquaintance really) a female power lifter in college that could bench around 200lbs with full length reps. She was much, much stockier than the girl in the video. A lot more deltoid and tricep mass. This girl, though; well, dress her up normally and you'd never have any clue.

It's like that in powerlifting for men and women. There's a lot of stereotype built powerlifters at a meet, I'm one of them (big shoulders, neck, back and belly), but then there's these guys who show up shaped like a broom stick who move stupid weight. There was a guy at this last Aggie meet pull 733lbs for his final attempt RAW and it looked like someone who was into running. It was crazy enough that the entire meet shut down to watch him. His first attempt was 705-ish and everyone thought that he had accidentally filled his attempt card out wrong. Even the platform judge asked him about it when he walked up.

Wow. How much did he weigh?
DBSwooper

He weighed in at 209lbs the morning of the meet (according to the results list).

He also had a 561lbs squat and a 374lbs bench. I was wrong, though, his best pull was *only* 731.5.

If you're keeping track at home, that means he totaled nearly 1667lbs weighing 209lbs at a drug tested meet. It was impressive to see him lift.

Wow. How tall was he? If he was moderately short, 209 is damn heavy, but if he was 6' or 6'1 then that's fairly light

Check out this kid named Jesse Norris. He's an absolute freak. 19 years old from Idaho.

He also just lifted at the arnold classic in Ohio and set the open raw deadlift world record for his weight class (205 lbs) with a lift of 775 lbs.

I'm not really sure, but he was built like a broom, so he was taller.
