Nice. Hey, sense you've worn both, how does the Lunar Racer fit compare to the discontinued Lunar Trainers? Is it safe to say that if the Trainers worked really well for me then the Racers should (for speed work, and maybe some 5 or 10Ks)?

you will most likely like them. the fit is a little different, but they feel very similar. i actually ordered myself a pair off the website today.

i LOVED the original, didn't like the update, but the version on that website is supposed to go back to the original. They are definitely lighter, but have that same lunar feel. You can run a marathon in them...that's what they were built for.

my opinion is to give them a shot.

oh, and as far as the sizing, they run a bit small...or at least they did. I'm not sure about this new version. I went up a full size over my typical running shoe size.

00, do you Lydiard/straight lace? When I started doing that I went down .5 size in most shoes.

Lydiard, and I still can't size down. I do like my shoes a little roomy, but that second version of the racer gave me blisters without going up to a 13. Normally run in 12s.

Anyone ever run in the New Balance 1080s?

you don't want to know about the asics anymore?

i've not run in the 1080s, but i ran in the the older version about 4 years ago or so. I liked it, but it was "a lot" of shoe. However, from what I understand, this shoe has changed A LOT from when I ran in its predecessor.

You saw the asics post...

Thanks for the info. Know anything about the Sky Speeds?

yeah, i just didn't know anything about them. I was going to do some research and see what I could come up with. Then you edited your post.

I've looked them up online, but can't decide if I want to spend the money on them. I am over 200 lbs, and I am not sure they would be enough cushioning for me for an everyday trainer.

the DS racers and trainers are typically a lightweight, so i assume these are in the same category (haven't done the research). They typically will only last about half the time as a regular trainer, and I don't know that i'd recommend them for an every day trainer.

what does this mean (off some Brooks hippie "green" shoe description):

quote:
The faster you are, the longer you can run in this shoe. Suitable for any race distance.

does it have an expiration date?

the green silence. pretty highly rated shoe. an no, there's not an expiration that i'm aware of.

i assume it means, the faster you are (ie longer time you are running a distance) the longer you can go. ie someone who runs a 2:20 marathon can go 26.2, whereas someone who runs a 2:20 half marathon might not want to use that shoe...a lot of that also probably has some "body type" reasoning in it. a 250 lb dude won't find that shoe comfortable very long. on the other hand, my gf is 110 and she knocks out 18 miles in them and they feel great for her.

Question to those who ordered shoes: did y'all receive a confirmation e-mail? I printed off the page, but never received a confirmation number/e-mail.

I didn't order this time but I order thru them quite a bit. You should get a order confirmation from them pretty soon after placing an order. A day or so later, you get a delivery confirmation.

Send them an email or call, they are pretty good about responding really fast.
