So I am finally going to buy my wife a new Tahoe. We have looked at everything and she wants a Tahoe. Since I am not buying another one for a long time, I want her to like what car we are getting this time, so I am caving to the Tahoe.

My question is: The 2008s are starting to appear on the lots. What is the difference between the 2007 and 2008? The price difference for me would be about 4K, which is pretty steep to me. Just wondering if there is anything on the 2008 that can justify the price difference.

I tried google and every 2008 reference is to their new hybrid model coming out. Since I am not paying $60K for a tahoe, that is not an option.

6 speed tranny! I'm interested in one too and I'm waiting for the 08s. Hopefully they have fixed most of the first year bugs and going from a 4 speed to a 6 speed tranny is huge. Power and gas mileage should improve nicely. Their should be great deals on the 07s which will be hard to resist but I'm waiting on the 08s.

The Ford Explorer has quietly gone to a 6 speed tranny since 06 and has done absolutely nothing to market it. I hear it is quite remarkable.

For MY2008, the Tahoes still only come with 4-speed transmissions. Only the Escalades and Denalis have the 6-speed transmissions, new for 2008 the 3/4 ton Suburbans have a Heavy duty version of the 6 speed also.

Only a 4 speed for the 08s! Ah, nucking futs! A 4 speed tranny on a 40k+ vehicle is absurd. I could of swore I read the 08s were coming with 6 speed trannies.

I thought about waiting for the 08s, but the timing (new vehicle needed) and the incentives I got a few months ago were just too good to pass up for an 07. I got a fantastic deal on it.

The gas mileage is starting to improve now that the engine has 2.5k miles on it. I'm getting 15.6mpg in town. Not too bad for a 4-speed tranny on a unit that weighs 5.5k pounds.
