i want to get a flowmaster dual exhaust kit for my new truck and was wondering if anyone knew if it would void your warranty.

If it's a catback system it won't void your warranty.

What he means is that if you don't touch anything forward of your catalytic converter, your warranty is OK. I would assume that Flowmaster makes a kit that does this (or it will shortly as it is a new model).

Pretty much every "just exhaust" kit out there is a catback system. It's when you start adding stuff in front of the catalytic converter, headers and stuff like that (which are sold in a lot of exhaust packages), that you void the warranty.

You only void the warranty on things you remove. There's no way that adding anything exhaust wise would cause problems in the engine, electrical, etc.

changing your headers won't void your warranty either.

I'm curious about the "headers not voiding your warranty" part. As a service advisor, I've refused warranty service to a guy with headers before.

i hope you're still in high school. no reason to have loud muffler. you won't notice the 2 hp increase in power.

btho,

ummm, legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302©) . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov. For additional information, check out the following links:

A service manager probably won't like it if you put this on his desk.
