Also posted on OB. Have an Isuzu NPR. Great vehicle when not in the shop. Latest is the following and was wondering if this sounds right to any others that have experience getting these trucks repaired. You see them everywhere, but it is hard to find a shop that works on the diesels

Also not in TX so can't take advantage of any TX shop recs unfortunately. Just curious as to other's thoughts.

EGR Valve = $1704 total (parts are 3-5 days out)

Injector and performing regen = $1637 total (parts 3-5 days out)

I'd say those are ripoff prices.

Google reveals all. I'd be shopping around.

What exact engine do you have in this truck?

Where are you located? Hard to tell without seeing the quote. Are those OEM components?

Dang...that looks like a $500.00+ part. Tack on a few hours of labor and some markup, shop price may not be that far off. I don't know what's involved. I don't know if it's a 2 hour job or a 5 hour job.

Yeah OEM. It is a chevy dealership that services NPR due to the rebadged GM trucks. We have used others in the past, but they were consistently higher. Many diesel shops don't work on these NPRs. It's crazy since you see so many landscaping etc. on the road everywhere. Many are gas of course, but there are plenty of diesels too.

Been digging around and it doesn't seem too far off market pricing. Getting tired of any little thing being wrong costing 100's and often 1000's of dollars. Will likley sell the diesel at some point and go gas, but it sure pulls good with a load.

Yeah, its hard to find mechanics that will work on those import diesels. I used to manage a fleet of Hino, International, Freightliner, and Isuzu box trucks and the Hino's were the hardest to find parts and service for. They also had the most finnicky DPF and SCR systems that always cost $1,000+ to do any repair to them. Our Isuzu's had the 6.6L GM engines and had significantly less problems, but our drivers beat the ever living sh*t out of them since they has less torque than the diesels did and basically run them at redline WOT on the highway. Caused them to consume oil between PM services.
