My mechanic says I need a new transmission on my 2020 Chevy Silverado with 86k miles. Did a transmission fluid flush 6 months ago that fixed a high speed shudder issue, but it now shudders when at a stop. Any recommendations in Houston to get a 2nd opinion, and an estimated price to expect?

I've heard of that being an issue, nervous if I opt for torque converter and that doesn't resolve everything

Torque converter is cheaper than a transmission

Unfortunately your cheap oem torque converter has probably already come apart and fragments of aluminum are already in the transmission.

It's at Circle D now, spent $200 diagnostic and now going to spend an additional $500 to remove the pan and check the fluid for color and bits. Could end up only being a $2k valve body repair...but I'm not getting my hopes up.

My 2 cents - I'm doing an entire new, boosted drivetrain in a 17 year old Tahoe with a 6LE80 here in Houston. The designer + builder was adamant about CircleD doing the rebuild given their capabilities. They do so many of these that they know the weaknesses and what specifically to address.

I'd much rather go with a CircleD rebuild if there are specific things where that address known weaknesses.

They're quoting more $ for a rebuild versus OEM, is that odd?

The oem will come with the same crap torque converter and fail again within 60k. We caught ours in time, eom rebuild, and with a new upgrade torque converter has been good. Oliver brothers did ours

one of my PM's is getting his '20 F150 10 speed transmittion replaced at a dealership in Midland. they quoted $9K. He had over 120K miles.

My rebuild will be $8.5k including an upgraded billet torque converter
