A while back while staying in a hotel my truck got hit with some nasty hail damage. I had time to get a cover on but didn't have one with me. I think it would be easy to leave a cover in the back of my truck for such a situation in the future.

Any recs on the supposedly hail proof truck covers?

I've wondered if any of the floor liner companies make these? Really like the husky garage mat material and it seems like they could use that material for hail protection. A product that would fold up would be great.

I have successfully used both heavy door mats and even bags of mulch. I can "sort" of get the cab into the garage, but the ass sticks out and the bed cover is that soft aluminum. I would think that rubber floor mats for workout rooms would be ideal. Or even the rubber mats you get at feed stores for animals.

The only ones that are going to work worth a flip are the ones that blow up with air and those require power from somewhere. I am not sure if that is 110 or 12v but they do require continuous power to keep inflated.

The only true option is such a PITA you wouldn't want to use it. Its essentially a bubble but you have to drive onto it before the "covering" part. Its like a bubble. Forgo the name of it... so not a whole lot of help.

At the risk of having them stolen, id just keep the rubber mats that Tractor Supply sells in the bed. That way theyre always with the truck if you're in a bind. The hail proof covers ive seen were inflatable and looked ridiculous

instead of having hail damage to repair with PDR now you just repaint the whole vehicle because of scratched paint

I've thrown a quilted moving blanket on my truck once or twice, and ran a strap under my car to keep the sides down. I've put a few pool noodles under it, to keep the blanket off the car a bit.

Problem is...the thing weighs 7 million lbs when it's wet. It's also not the quickest solution, if the hail comes suddenly.

Nevermind. The video answered my question. This device is the way to go for repeatable hail protection in my opinion.

We have a heavy fabric cover for my daughters jeep. We fold moving blankets to make them double thickness and then put the cover on over that and cinch the cover down. The cover sheds water pretty good, so the moving blankets aren't totally soaked if there is a lot of rain.

It all fits in the back of her jeep during hail season. We can set it up in just a few minutes. I would think you could do the same with any car using a similar heavy weight cover.

I've used moving blankets before. they get heavy when wet and stay in place

I have this inflatable hail car protector from Warsun. It's been great and saved my vehicle multiple times the past few years. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to put it on, inflate it fully, and strap it down.
