Am I the only one that just realized that FRAM is going out of business?? Went into Walmart and noticed all the oil filters were shoved to the top with no pricing in front. Asked someone in Automotive and they said they went out of business 4 months ago!

"FRAM filters are currently in the process of shutting down operations following the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of its parent company, First Brands Group. The company's founder, Patrick James, and his brother Edward face federal fraud charges related to a multi-billion dollar scheme involving fake invoices and money laundering, which led to the collapse of the business. Walmart started carrying OEM filters like Ford, Chevy, and Toyota. Cheaper than FRAM. I don't see how they would have survived anyway.

Yeah, I changed the oil and filter on one of my Toyotas recently and they weren't carrying OEM filters.

Cutting the ends off... cutting it in half... pulling apart hoping to see nothing shiny, then running a magnet over it... looking for green and black bits...

Just bought the ford motor craft filter for a 6.7 diesel at Walmart. 23 $ vs 45 for the same filter at the ford dealership.
Chevrolets I used to use fram filters on I now get Mobil 1 filters at Walmart for.

Yes, in store. I guess it's store specific.

Was doing some reading on this and that means Raybestos, Trico, and Autolite are also going to be affected by this. I'm sure they will be bought up and kept alive by other companies, but I'm sure this is going to cause a lot of headaches acquiring parts for a while. I had no idea Fram and Reybestos were under the same umbrella

First Brands owned StopTech, Raybestos,Autolite, FRAM, Anco and Trico. Some of these brands have been sold due to bankruptcy. FRAM has been sold to a Memphis company named "Preminum Guard". So they will reappear on the market..

Allegations include the misuse of factoring, which is selling a batch of products to retailers which typically have 60-90 days to pay and are given an IOU. First Group is accused of selling the IOU to multiple financiers.

I mentioned this a couple of months ago and now all that is in stock at my local Walmarks is Purolator and random Motorcraft, Toyota, and Mobil 1 filters that are off part numbers. I hate the markup at Autozone and OReilly.
