Howdy, not that I would ever speed (wink, wink), but if I were to speed, what is the best Radar Detector. As in least conspicuous, longest range, gotta be SUPER easy to install (I am an OLD). Thank!!

I've had a Uniden R3 for 8 years. No tickets. I messed with the settings once and haven't touched it since. I like that you can auto mute known false alerts.

My radar detector got stolen out of my truck years ago. Insurance wouldn't cover the cost of replacing it so I just upgraded my stereo and put CarPlay with Waze. Havnt had a ticket with that ever except for running a red light, and that was a warning due to circumstances.

Believe me, they more than pay for themselves if you do a lot of driving. I have a 7 year old Valentine One. All I do is hook it onto the visor and plug it in. Nothing to it. When I stop somewhere, I take it down and put it in the glove box, or center console , or under the seat. Putting it back up take moments.

I used to regularly drive to Ft. Smith AR for work. It has easily saved me over a hundred times for those trips alone....especially when going through OK.

I have an older V1 and just programmed it to turn off K and X and it works great. They can be had for much less than the V2. Great option if your local LEOs no longer use K or X band.

Last week I picked up a county sheriff's radar in K band. Surprised me. Usually in disregard K band.

Yeah, unfortunately K is still.used by a lot of county and smaller town cops still. Rockwall County who has plenty of tax revenue still uses K just to nail all of us who only pay attention to KA.

If you decide a radar detector isn't in the budget or within your installation skill set before your big trip, at least download and run JBV1 app if you have an android phone. You can run it without a detector and it is Waze on steroids. I think Highway Radar is similar if you are apple only. These bring all the crowd sourced info from Waze and other platforms into one place and allow adjustments to weed out old alerts or crank up the distance and get Waze-like warnings 5 miles out. They have aircraft warnings as well based on transponder / registration / flight patterns. Heat maps showing historical speed traps are really nice too.

To learn more about the JBV1 app or any other things radar detector related check out www.rdforum.org or www.vortexradar.com. There are some rabbit holes you can travel down there, but that crowd is as passionate and knowledgeable about countermeasures as we are about all things Aggie here.

When I'm in Virginia, where detectors are illegal, I do not feel like I am speeding naked when I am running JBV1. It is better if you have a V1 Gen 2 running with it, but JBV1 is very good for situational awareness when you are running without a detector in standalone mode.
