I've gone through all kinds of bulbs both LED and Halogen. I'm picky about lighting and color temperature. Here's my two cents.
Either buy the most expensive bulbs, or cheapest name-brand. Anything else is just marketing they are charging extra for.
The cheapest, regular od halogen bulb (Sylvania, Osram, etc) are what like came in the car from the factory. They last a long time, and are fairly bright. They will be of the "warm white" color. About 3000k. These are what I typically run today since my eyes don't work with the bluer shades as well.
The "super platinum, diamond-laser-vision hyper blue daylight" style bulbs aren't really that much brighter. They are bluer which tricks your brain into believing they are brighter. 5000k and bluer is more like daylight, so the old monkey brain interprets that as "brighter". Where as halogen 3000k is closer to candle light, which happens at night. Monkey brain think "darker".
As I get older my eyes are less tolerant of the blue light. I can see better with less fatigue with standard halogen bulbs, so that's what I use. If you want it brighter you can always get a higher wattage bulb, but make sure your wiring harness can cope with the heat.
