Howdy! Company A-1 of the Corps has acquired a used cargo trailer to serve as their storage and travel unit for the outfit's tailgating gear: tables, chairs, catering tools, clean-up supplies, canopy tents, etc. The trailer needs a little work: removal of signage sticker, inside renovation work removing/adding shelves and storage hooks, repainting inside and out. It's temporarily housed at the home of a cadet's parents in Lavon (north of Rockwall).

If anyone owns or knows of a company in the DFW area (or Bryan/College Station) that does cargo trailer renovation/refresh work (and hopefully offers Aggie discounts!) we'll be happy to take it there. Please text or call: Joe at 972-754-8814 or Hank at 979-224-2291. Thanks so much for any help or leads you can give us.

Why do outfits acquire cargo trailers, new or used?? The outfits can't store any gear in their dorms--they must raise money each year to pay monthly storage shed fees to stash their stuff, then hijack pickup trucks 10-12 times a year and spend hours loading and hauling everything to/from campus for multiple tailgates and cookouts for football games, Family Weekend, Aggieland Saturday, etc. The outfits that have managed to get trailers save a ton of manhours and minimize equipment damage and breakage. And a couple of local storage sheds in CS charge a lot less for trailer storage than lockable storage shed units. (The really lucky outfits find Aggies willing to park the trailers on their property in BCS for free!)

Thanks and Gig 'em, Aggies!!!

Call or go by the Gooseneck trailer company in Bryan. Can't remember his name, but the service manager should know where to go with it if they don't do that work themselves.
We took a cattle trailer there last summer and they did good work. They make and service lots of different trailers and the manager was a good guy.

Great idea. I'm ashamed I didn't think of that one myself. Thanks!

Kind of off your topic - but since you've already received some good info...

I'm glad outfits do stuff together like this - as an outfit. I know in my day the tailgating scene wasn't as big and there were little to no 'whole outfit' social interactions aside from the banquet at the end of the year. As younger Ags, including my nephews, have gone through I've commented that I think it's badass the outfits, and their parents, get to socialize together like this.

In fact, at my own tailgate this fall I had this very conversation with one of my old pissheads who has made the same observation. I told him that in the fall of 1986 I thought he was Satan and as far as I was concerned he was from the loins of a devil for generations and I would have cared not to meet or get to know anyone sharing his bloodline or last name. Gathering across classes with family and friends would have made he and his buddies human - because as far as my buddies and I were concerned - they were NOT. But, that was nature of the game at the time - it never turned off for a minute; only white belts showed a bit of humanity at times.

Good on you OP doing your part. I look forward to seeing the Animal A trailer around next fall.

I appreciate your feedback and agree with your comments 100%. Nowadays, there are so many more extraordinay opportunities for Aggie students-- especially cadets and families-- to meet and mingle. The tougher academic standards and expansion of classes that run from 7 AM to nearly midnight severely restrict he hours of student free time needed to plan and present outfit social events. It's another reason why more and more outfits are searching for ways to efficiently organize, safely store, and transport the equipment needed for them.

Thanks again for your input.
