Traded in my problematic 2023 Silverado 3500 that was almost out of warranty for this lightly used 2024 Ram 2500 mega cab with the Cummins & 6 speed.

Very happy with my decision so far!

I'm an old man stuck in a young man's body and don't know how to post photos.

Two of my buddies have this same truck and have zero issues thus far compared to my '23 Chevy. I feel like everyone I've talked to with a post Covid 10 speed has Had issues.

It's real easy on you phone. Just click image, select photo, it will show up below your post and then just hit the "post" button.

Good looking truck! How do you like the Cummins?

You had a problematic Chevy and your solution was to buy a Ram.

Truck is great so far, rides much better. To be expected though going from 3500 to 2500.

As far as the reliability jokes, I think RAM has really stepped up the past 5-10 years compared to the other manufacturers. We shall see.

It looks like a great truck, but it's one of the worse Rule 1 photos ever. No offense, i get nitpicky.

Rule 1 photo tips:

Have the vehicle take up 50% or more of the frame, not 5%

Lighting and backdrop matter when showcasing your new ride, give it some effort

Pride of ownership shines with multiple photos from different angles, maybe an interior shot as well

White Megacab is the best truck on the market.

How big of a discount were you able to get vs new? I tested a new 24 and new 25 back to back and couldn't not get the 8 speed.

Is yours HO with Aisin or the 68rfe?

I like how he parked it away from the house and next to a fire hydrant!

Probably a good looking truck. Probably a Ram. Could be a Ford Sprinter. May not even be white. That could be the sun washing out the color.

Unfortunately, there is no way to know because it's 34 miles from the person taking the pic.

I love the Megacab so far. I'm a contractor and in my Silverado I had a Decked system to carry all my tools. As the business has grown, I've needed less and less specialty tools myself. I've got my hand tools and power tools behind the seat as well as a first aid kit, jumper cables, and a box of tie-downs. Debating if i'll even put the Decked drawers back in the truck.

The MSRP was $99,977 in 2024 and I paid 2/3rds of that. It had 27k on it when I purchased it. Got a bumper to bumper extended warranty for up to 125k.

It's just the regular 6.7 with the 68rfe.

that 6 speed transmission is far better than anything Chevy or Ford is crapping out.

I found myself in a very similar situation. I decided to just get a Laramie instead of going way up trim. As long as I had heated and vented seats plus radar cruise I was good. I went with diamondback cover for the bed since I'm not hauling all the nasty **** in the bed I used to.

I have 70k miles on my 21 3500 with 0 issues so far. Really love the truck. It is a 21 3500 Megacab SRW with the HO Cummins. I deleted it this summer and wish I would have sooner.

Have a 2020 Mega Cab 2500 and can't find anything on the market I'd rather have for the money. I get made fun of in my family for always wanting a new truck and I could, just don't see the point, nothing exciting.

Ventilated seats, Cummins, looks good, has the tech I need, no need for "new."

I'll just delete it soon (for offroad use only obviously) and keep driving it.

I'd take a RAM over a GM truck in a heartbeat, these days

And that's why I wanted a '24. Not sure I want to be a test subject for the 8 speed. And compared to the 10 speed, the 68rfe is cheap to have rebuilt, even if its a stage 3 or something.

My valve body on my Silverado went out at 68k miles. My clean up guy just had his go out a few months ago (on a '24 that is supposedly "upgraded") at 28k miles. A home builder I work with has had his go out twice, once at 25k and again at 87k.

Allison has sent a cease and desist order to GM to stop using their trademark on HD trucks if Allison didn't build the transmission, i.e. the 10 speed. I believe anything produced after 1/1/2026 cannot have the Allison badge on it and anything left on the lot after 6/1/2026 has to be re-badged to remove the Allison logo.

I read an article about this recently. It didn't mention any cease and desist order. It just said GM and Allison couldn't come to an agreement on licensing and they decided to mutually part ways. All new trucks manufactured no longer have the Allison badging and new trucks on the lot have to remove the badging. Either way, it's clear they want nothing to do with the current 10 speed. It's a shame Ford and GM couldn't just use the transmission as Allison designed it. They had to cheapen it up and now they both have issues.

Anyway, rambling aside, that looks to be a nice upgrade. I think RAM might actually have figured out a pickup finally.

I understand that but I have a ZF in several work boats that gets beat on I know they can build a transmission. That and it's more or less a beefed up version of the ones they have been putting behind hellcats for years. The biggest thing I noticed coming from Chevy and Ford is trans temps are crazy low compared to them.
