Might be car shopping for the teenager. Nissan looks like they have some decent end of year deals going. Any dealer specific ones for reasonably priced small/mid-size SUVs? I want her out of the small sedan she currently drives.

I prefer Mazda over Nissan only because I don't like the CVT transmission. May not be a deal breaker for you, but something to consider.
Edit to say: If shopping new, which it sounds like you are, Mazda had 1.9 financing for up to 72 months I believe on most models.

Also look at Hyundais. Tucson/Santa Fe.
Mazda definitely on the list. Any deals on Hyundai? I'm in B/CS but definitely willing to drive to Houston.

December has been one of the dealers' busier months -- at least, prior to Covid. Whether that changed things or not, I don't know. But I don't think waiting until January in this market will hurt if you can.
End of the month is always a good time to buy, though. I would just be willing to walk if the deal isn't right.

Quick update here: Aggie Pain Train's Mazda POC was great. We went in around 1:30 on the 31st. Checked out their inventory. Test drove one and then I had to run an errand.
I texted the POC over at Mazda and said I'll be back in a couple of hours and plan to buy it so write up the deal. He had two different ones waiting for me when I got back. Showed me his invoice. I picked the deal I liked best and we were done within the hour.
They detailed it and my wife brought my daughter back up to "meet me for dinner" and it was waiting on her with a bow.
Great experience and the folks at Douglass were very kind and professional.
