Cam Phasers, Timing Chain
Coolant Leak
Catalytic convertor
Transmission feels like it's slipping
175,000 miles
This is the 6th ford pickup (Mostly f250's and 350's) I've driven. It will be my last.

2017 Expy with 3.5
Cats died at about 175K. I live in a no emissions county so I never touched them. Never had a problem.
Had to replace the throttle body intake thing for about $75
Drilled the weep hole
Added a catch can
366,000 miles, drove it to work this morning. Might be overdue for its first transmission service

Cam Phasers and Transmission Issues. You will have them if they have not been previously repaired. That transmission is a 10R80 everyone has issues of slipping and downshifts problems because of the design. Have about 10 grand in the pocket to replace.

All these issues makes it seem a used F150 isn't a smart buy.

Are the new ones any more reliable?

Thanks I had 2 '19s with well over 200k combined and that was the only thing - other than routine maintenance - I ever had to do. Not even 1 CEL!

No newer trucks are reliable. You just got to roll the dice on what you like the most.
