I take mine to Walmart, they will take up to 5 gallons/day. For those that don't have a Walmart with an Auto and tire repair, you can find your nearest recycle center at the following link. Just enter your zip.

Dispose

Depose - means you're taking its testimony or one of the other Urban Dictionary definitions

Of course a review of the used motor oil does provide some facts about the state of your engine.

Nice. You'd be tarred and feathered for that these days.

Most, if not all, Auto Zones have an oil catch in the back of the store that you can go pour it in to. That's what I do, at least.

Not having close neighbors is nice. Old oil goes on my dirt roads and fence lines

The used oil is filtered and distilled to get water and other additives out then it goes back to the refinery as feed stocks.

They pour it into giant holes filled with gravel.

I use Firestone. They will recycle antifreeze as well. I've brought in 40 gallons of oil and they'll let me do my thing. Basically it's a shop run by teens who don't give a whole lot of ****s about anything which makes it easier. They'll even let me use the vacuum sucker thing to pump out the mobile units when I fill them up so they don't have to be involved.

I've never been to a chain auto parts store that didn't take old oil and filters.

Pour it on a rural limestone or gravel road. The oil helps keep dust down and encourages cut thru traffic to use the state highway more often.

Run you a little drip line into a wood heater for the shop and you'll be warm all winter.

Everywhere I've been to lately wont take the filter, they tell me to toss it in their dumpster.

Isn't this just like the water cycle? Comes from underground. Goes back underground.

We used to collect 500 gallons at a time on the farm, and a recycling company would come pick it up.

Getting a little water in the tank was acceptable, but they claimed they would reject a load of oil that has antifreeze in it.

I think all Firestone's will do it. They have two bins, one for oil and one for antifreeze. Just give them a call and ask. Maybe it's dependent on the management. Wal mart also does it but they require notes and estimates on how much you are recycling. I had to recycle some tractor hydraulic fluid that got water in it and was 20 years old. It basically came out as a semi solid milkshake. I felt bad and offered to pay for the little foam mat thing but they didn't give a single crap about it.
