I have a 2025 Pilot Trailsport for a dealer service loaner this week and today on the freeway I got nailed by 2 pretty good sized rocks. Both spots are between the size of a nickel and a quarter, and from one of those round impact spots, there's 2 cracks that radiate out maybe 6" or so.

Does that sound repairable or is a full replacement needed? My insurance deductible is $1000 so more than likely I'll pay out of pocket. The Safelite quote I got was $850 for full replacement.

Would it be better to just get it taken care of on my own before turning the car back in to the Honda dealer next week or should I wait and have them fix it and send me the bill? Seems like it'd be more expensive for them to fix it.

I would probably take care of it myself before turning in. I think it would be more expensive going thru them and they may insist OEM. There are some cheaper options than safe lite depending where you're at. I think I paid 350 for a new windshield at a local recommended guy here in Houston.

Man I would assume they have insurance. I wouldn't expect to fix anything on a loaner

Is there a downside to just turning in the car and not saying anything?

Google windshield replacement near you. I bet you can get it replaced for half of that.

I would guess the dealership would not want a loaner windshield replaced with a non oem one.

Better ask before doing any repair and I bet there is a clause on that in the loaner papers you signed.

Can't wait for the post in a couple of months where someone bought a previous loaner car from a dealership and is complaining it's full of non OEM parts.

Put some mud on it and turn it in when it's dark.

Dealerships are scum bags. Time for a taste of their own medicine.

Ended up turning the car in yesterday and talking to the service manager we're going to split the cost of the windshield.
