Any recommendations for GMC and Chevy dealers for buying? I have read good things about Laura GMC and saw the older thread about Teague Chevy. Are these still the two recommended most or is there others I should consider? Ideally find someone closer to College Station than Laura, but if the deal is that much better, I don't mind the distance. If long distance, would want to have a firm price and trade-in value before making the trip. Thanks in advance!

I generally can't stand car dealers, but I'll say that Orr Chevrolet out of Texarkana was really hassle free when I bought my Silverado in 2020. Easiest car buying experience I've ever had, but there was no trade in. They delivered it to Longview for free as well. The Salesman was an older guy named Mack. I mainly went to them because 6.2L RST trim Silverados were a rare bird at the time and they had a couple.

My brother flew into St. Louis and bought a 2500 AT4 from Laura. He didn't have a trade, but he says the buying experience was very good.

I've had good luck with the folks at Heritage in Rockwall (https://www.heritagegmcbuick.com/). One of the few dealers I could find that would work with us and include my wife's supplier discount. Most wouldn't even discuss it. For whatever reason, they were marking the 2500's down $5K a couple of months ago and still gave us the supplier discount on top.

Shawn is the sales manager and who you want to work with.

Not familiar with GM. We bought from Nissan and Toyota.

As a GM guy that's good to hear. GM is their own worst enemy and it starts with the buying experience. My current and only Ford was my easiest buying experience and I had heard this about Ford 20 years prior

I recently purchased from Gabriel Jordan Chevrolet out of Henderson, TX. Everything done over phone and they delivered it to Magnolia free of charge. Worked with Chad (salesman) and James the GM. It was incredibly easy and painless.

I can tell you to AVOID James Wood in Denton…I bought a CPO 2500 HD from them and they delivered it with numerous issues from Day 1. It spent 2 weeks at a dealer in Houston getting fixed and then I found more problems. They didn't give a rats F…ended up getting a lawyer involved and they bought it back. Some other sucker is no doubt driving it now.

Donalson GM/Chevrolet in Silsbee. No pressure. Great selection. Beats Houston dealers.

Bought from Laura in St Louis as mentioned above. They picked me up from the airport and was in and out in 30 minutes. Best experience I've had so far.

What's the story with Laura? Are they that much cheaper than anywhere else?

They were when I bought my truck last Oct. All most 10k less then anywhere in Texas. I just bought my wife a Yukon and they were not cheaper. Have to look around.

I almost bought an Acadia from them. Usually they are cheapest or close to it and post the price online. They sell large volumes, maybe the most in the country. You can do almost everything online. They will deliver to Texas for a fee. When I asked, it was $700. My order got accepted at my local dealer just as I was talking to Laura so we went ahead with our order. I came out about the sane because the unit at Laura has more expensive options but a bigger discount compared to the one we got.

Pippen in Carthage is very easy to deal with but not usually the cheapest. Plus smaller than big city dealers so they might not have what you want. Also had a good experience with Caldwell Country.

Any GMC dealers specifically in Houston worth considering? Looking to purchase a Sierra 1500 Denali before the end of the year. Also, anyone know what the differences between the 24 and 25 trucks are? I've been trying to find out online without much success. Most people are just echoing what's available in the 24 model.

I had a great experience with Trey Beal at Beck and Masten in N Houston. Didn't care for Weisner's sales team and walked out. Still go there for maintenance with no issues. My BIL swears by Gay Buick in Dickinson but I've never been.

We had a good experience with Henna Chevrolet in Austin. Process was straight forward and no dealer add ons were even offered. This was in January, when inventory was still low.

The Chevy screen is horizontal and the GMC screen will look much like a Ram screen from what I'm gathering.
Seems that GMCs are more expensive by about $2800. Are you looking for a Z71, Trail Boss or ZR2 package?
The Rancho shocks are still great with the Z71, the 2-inch lift is on the Trail Boss doesn't compromise on ride and feel and the ZR2's multi-matic DSSV spool-valve dampeners are best described as floating in an '84 Fleetwood Cadillac only you're in a truck doing 50 mph in a pasture.

Just an update to say I ended up buying from Sterling McCall in Houston. They have a surplus of the 2024 Sierra 1500 AT4X's and were willing to deal. They are your typical car salesmen and throw every add-on, etc. they can at you to drive the price up. They try to wear you out and you just have to be willing to play the long game with them. At the end of the day, if they didn't have a ton of the AT4X's just sitting on their lot, I'm not sure they would have been willing to deal. Walked out of there with a below dealer invoice deal, plus the current GM incentives on the 2024 trucks. They fought hard but ended up removing all the bogus dealer add-ons (window tint, clear bra, nitrogen filled tires, etc.) Trade-in price didn't blow me away but was fair. Initial trade-in offer was $5k lower than where we settled.

Just went to Beck &Masten North. After a few minutes of looking around, sales guy came out and just asked what we were looking for. After explaining to him, he went to get keys to open the truck. Never once tried to pressure us today (not quite ready to pull the trigger). Currently looking through stock to give us exactly what we want. So far, very happy. Will do most of the negotiating via email or chat.

Just to make sure I'm calibrated, when you guys say "sticker price", are you referring to MSRP on the window sticker or total vehicle price (with add ons) on the window sticker? I'm pretty sure you're talking total vehicle price because I can't imagine them going below MSRP.
ags2007
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There is the "standard vehicle price" and then there is all the additional options added by the manufacturer above and beyond the "standard". The "Total Vehicle Price" on the sticker is the suggested MSRP on the vehicle. What you will find at the negotiation table is that in addition to the options added by the manufacturer they will add charges such as nitrogen filled tires, window tint, paint protection, etc that weren't included in the total vehicle price on the sticker. They will absolutely sell a vehicle below MSRP (unless you are shopping a very rare vehicle) and I would negotiate based off the dealer invoice not the sticker price. Ask them to share it with you. They don't want to but they will. It is not usually an enjoyable process but if you are patient and willing to say no you can negotiate a good deal.

Got it. I know they try to make it purposely confusing. They have "Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price" just above the "Standard Vehicle Price". Then they proceed to list additional options that are installed and call it a "Total Vehicle Price". I didn't realize that they could then have additional "dealer installed options" that are not present on the sticker. Knowledge is power here. The other nice thing is that I don't need the vehicle right now which allows me to walk away very easily.

Had a very poor experience with Weisner in Huntsville as well. Worst price I came across, would not drop price at all, and lowballed the hell out of my trade. I asked them to price match beck and masten and they said they would, yet would not accept anything as proof of a deal…

They specialize in buyers who come in saying "I want this car, and I want to pay X a month" buyer and it shows.

I dealt with them last year and would say the same thing. Did pretty much everything over the phone/email, drove down there from BCS after work one evening, and was in and out pretty quick. A day or two later, they called apologizing for a mistake on some paperwork that needed a signature, and they drove to my office in BCS to have me correct it.

Pulled the trigger on a 2025 Sierra Denali with a 3.0 Duramax. I love the truck. Wasn't getting the service that I expected from Beck and Masten so I went to Classic Elite GMC in Katy. Ended up paying approximately 15% below MSRP before TTL. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this was the best no hassle buying experience I've ever had purchasing a new vehicle. I probably could've gotten the price down a bit more but overall very happy with what I paid (as much as someone can be at that price point). I highly recommend this dealership. Let me know if you need my contact.
