What are some short term, easy ways to prevent getting a truck ('14 Silverado) from getting stolen. Working in Houston, and am a little concerned. Are the steering wheel bars helpful? What about removing the ignition fuse? I put an air tag in the truck, but just looking to make it as difficult as possible for a would be thief.

Remove your wheels and put it on bricks.

Or if you are really worried, rent a vehicle and leave your truck at home.

That's my second biggest fear. I've got nice tires and wheels.

I think they're about $800

For a quick option that doesn't include any car modifications. Other suggestions are good too, I use this and a Ravelco. I took the disklok on vacation for hotel parking our other car.

I like that it is a good visual deterant as well. I was hesitant because of the price, but built well. Downside is it is awkward to store.

I'm in Houston. Bought a '24 F250 back on January 12th, had a Ravelco on it by Jan 17th. That's my recommendation.

I've had great success driving old beaters. No break ins or thefts.

I prefer Igla over Ravelco, I can keep my remote start function, and still do not have to worry about the truck being taken. With Ravelco, you can't remote start unless the key is plugged in, then you don't have theft protection. Also, I do not want to add the Ravelco key to my key chain as another thing to carry.

Drive something with a manual transmission.

I wish. Can't hardly find a full size truck with one anymore.

I installed a Trackhawk kill switch on my truck as recommended on TexAgs. Pretty happy with it despite remembering to enable/disable kill switch when going somewhere or going to bed. We've had two trucks stolen in our neighborhood in the last few weeks after our last string of auto thefts in the fall. Most have been Dodge Rams

Nothing will stop them from towing it.

Plant a couple thief activated car bombs around town and when thieves start blowing up when they try and steal cars maybe the others will start thinking twice.

Obviously I'd have a hidden battery to run all this. It's the best non-lethal option I can think of. Obviously claymore is preferable.
