In the 1/2 ton truck market and the Titan looks like the most affordable. I like that it has a plain old v8.

I know nothing about them, not sure I have ever even been in one. How is reliability etc? Any info appreciated.

It's a solid, if old, platform. The 5.6L is fairly bullet proof. Gas mileage is poor. Even still, it's a decent value.

The Titan Pro 4x is the best value in the truck market today. You might find trucks with more features or better capability, but those are typically way more expensive. I paid about $60k all-in and could have gotten a better price if I had financed it instead of paying cash. Every other truck that I liked as much or better would have been $80k or more drive-out. It has a reliable v8 and has everything you'd need in a moderate off-road trim (comparable to a Ram Rebel or the previous generation TRD Pro). My only complaint is that the rear suspension is very stiff and if the bed is empty you can bounce around on a rough road. The Fender speakers and stereo that come in the pro 4x trim sound great. You get skid plates, off-road tires and wheels, spray in bed liner, a cargo system, pull down step for tailgate access, leather seats that are pretty comfortable and all the typical technology you'd expect in modern trucks. However, it does drive and feel like an old school truck. It isn't as cushy as a Ram with their air ride suspensions.. I was initially concerned about the rear seat leg room, but my 6'-3" teenage son sits back there and says he's plenty comfortable.

Consumer reports has the Titan #2 on their list of most reliable trucks.

I love my Titan. My first one was just over 200k when I traded it in. Second one is at 72k and counting. No real issues with either one.

I had a 2019 Pro-4x and really liked it. Had to sell a few years ago because I got a company truck, but had no issues in the 2+ years and 40k miles I had it for.

How did they tow? I don't pull a heavy camper or anything like that. Just the occasional jeep on a car hauling trailer.

I pulled a camper several times with mine, including a 30 footer from DFW to Big bend and had no issues. It pulls as good as any other half ton, just gets really thirsty if you want to go over 65mph (but again, they all do)

Pros: Solid, reliable

Cons: One of the ugliest trucks ever built

I've got a 2017 with 115,000 miles on it. Been a great truck with no issues…would replace it with another one if they weren't fazing them out..

Consider buying Titans used if you can find what you want. They lose value quicker than other brands and they already start out at a lower price. Let the first owner take the big hit on the initial depreciation.

Well you can definitely get a good deal on a low mileage used Titan. I've looked at some used ones recently for my boys who will be driving soon.

I'm also in the market… hoping to find a deal on a Titan with 6.5' bed in Pro4X or Platinum Reserve.

Been looking at used and will probably go that route on a '22 or '23.

Out of curiosity I inquired about a new one through Costco and got a little literal sticker shock, but I admittedly am in denial about the price of trucks lately.

I think $50K is my max. My dad must be rolling over in his grave at me even saying that lol!

Just got this from the dealer that Costco linked me with.

Don't take the bait. That's his trolling schtick.

That appears to be for an XD, which are more expensive.

Do you know if XD is the only way to get 6.5' bed?

Autotrader shows a new '24 Pro4X with a 6.5' bed in the metroplex listed at $62.4K. It's exactly what I want. Not sure if the price is BS or not.

My dad has a 2015 with like 250k on it. Only things I've had to replace are the shocks, headlights, and a bunch of the interior plastic trim pieces. The sun does a number on the nissan paint and plastic, but mechanically it's tip top.

I think you can only get the longer bed AND Pro 4x trim on an XD. The regular Pro 4x trucks all have 5-1/2 foot beds if I recall correctly.

OK thanks. That seems to confirm what I've been seeing.

Xd's are going to be higher priced and harder to find.

Cookeville TN Nissan has consistently had the best prices in online searches. Pro 4x non-xd are listed at 11,713 off sticker online. I've never seen more than 2-3 XD's listed new at any one dealer.

I have a 2021 Titan Platinum Reserve and I love it. The older body styles were really unattractive but the newer ones are significantly better. I had a 2012 F150 that I really liked but it was time for something new this past summer and I looked at all sorts of options: another F150, Sierra, Silverado, Tahoe, and Yukon. Cost did play a factor as I am a bang for the buck guy, and to get something sub $50K with the things I wanted on it would have been a truck with more miles than I really wanted. The Platinum Reserve is incredibly nice and comfortable, way more comfortable than my F150 was. I was able to get a 1.5 year old truck, loaded, with 25K miles, for under $45,000 drive out. I admit I like the LOOK of the Sierra and the F150 more, but I like the ride and the interior of the Titan way more. Plus the cost and the lower miles made it a great buy. Having had it for 7-8 months now, I have absolutely no complaints other than missing my 36 gallon gas tank. Overall it's a great truck.

If you are going to get one, then get it now. 2024 is the last year they are being made. They stop production this summer.

I can only speak to the XD. I have a '21 P4X and it is the best truck I have owned. Was under it this weekend just checking things out and still amazed how well built the truck is. I've had a '98 Ram, '03 Ram and '14 F-150. Maybe not the best comparisons, but those are what I owned. Contrary to what others have said, I think the P4X version is a great looking truck, maybe not the SV or SL, but the lower models of the big 3 aren't that good looking either. I tow a 7K lb TT with and it tows way better than my F-150. I like that it has traditional analog gauges and you control the a/c and radio with knobs and buttons. Not looking forward to the day when I have to replace it and everything is done through an ipad. Also, not everyone is driving one. Don't really need to worry about it getting stolen or having the cat converter jacked. Only thing I have had to replace was a solenoid for the tailgate lock and I have 53K miles of which about 14K of those were towing.
