Helping a relative look for a new f150 online. 5.0 Lariat.

I see a line item on the window sticker " auto start- stop removal " $50

Does that do away with the aggravating engine shut off at red lights without having to push a button every time you start it?

Yes. Chip shortage caused this I believe which is actually a good thing as start/stop is stupid EPA mandated BS. Our 2023 Expy is missing this "feature" thankfully

Wow. I never knew that was possible. Makes me wonder why all trucks aren't ordered that way.
Thanks

Well the search didn't turn up anything when we added 6.5 bed.

The damn ford online search will only let you go 100 miles. Any way to do a 500 mile search?

Yeah I'll never understand why anyone would want a vehicle with a hole in the roof. What could go wrong?

Or a truck with a 5 ft bed…

I thought Ram was bad when I was looking when they were limited to 250 miles. I had to draw circles on Google Earth and find zip codes of each center. I think they're nationwide search now. Can't imagine 100 mile radius. Glad we lucked into our Expedition passing a dealer when we needed it when inventory was terrible.

Why not let Reproag find you one?

Good luck.

My 2022 expedition had that box checked and I don't have stop start. It's great

Can you get rid of it after the fact somehow?

I told the 1Ags contact "they should ADD 250 bucks for that option instead of taking 50 off, plenty would pay it".

Don't give Ford any ideas, at least not while it's free.

Exactly. More importantly, some will not buy one with the auto start-stop. One of the reasons to drive a 3/4 ton.

Use Autotrader, I found 3x 5.0 Lariats w/ 6.5' bed within 500 miles. Unfortunately, they're all white lol

This one doesn't have a moonroof

ETA: Definitely get 36 gallon tank as well, the range is awesome. If you read owners manual, Ford recommends 93 octane or e85, especially when towing. When calculating cost /mile, e85 is a bit cheaper than 93. The larger tank makes running e85 less of a chore.

To disable the start/stop on my 2019 Lariat, I've unplugged this connector from the relay on the negative battery terminal. No adverse effects.

I understand this relay disables the start/stop feature if the battery voltage is low. It's better than having to press the deactivate button after every start up.

Only thing I'll say is don't the reason the above methods work is because they disable the Ford BMS?

May be a small likelihood, but the BMS is there for a reason, and disabling it could leave you with a dead battery you don't know about until you're stranded....

I had a 2023 with the 6.5 bed on order for 6+ months with no build date and finally had to give up and went with what I could find which was a 2022 with the 5.5 bed.

One good thing that came out of it was the auto start stop removal

Next time you come to the shop, add that to your list for my truck.

Also… why does my 36 gallon tank say " 0 mile to empty" and only fill up to 34 gallons?

Spec out the options you want and run the search, then modify the URL for the radius distance you want. In the example below, simply change the value after "Radius=" from 100 to 500 or whatever you want.

Original URL:
https://shop.ford.com/inventory/f150/results?zipcode=77002&Radius=100&modeltrim=F-150_F24-LARIAT&Engine=5_0l_v8&Drive=4x4&Cab=supcrew_cab&CargoBox=6.5&Order=Distance&intcmp=show-si

500 mile radius URL: https://shop.ford.com/inventory/f150/results?zipcode=77002&Radius=500&modeltrim=F-150_F24-LARIAT&Engine=5_0l_v8&Drive=4x4&Cab=supcrew_cab&CargoBox=6.5&Order=Distance&intcmp=show-si
