Found a 2023 Larmie that a dealer is willing to make a good deal on. Sales manager said "it's a 2023 and I want it off my lot before 2024 gets here!".

It has way more options than I was looking for, but it also has a 3.92 rear end instead of the stock 3.21. I have no plans to tow anything except maybe a u-Haul to help a kid move.

I know the gas mileage is already bad with the Hemi V8, but just how much worse will it be?

Work commute is 18-miles round trip mix of street and highway.

3M Clear Film Protection Package, Nitrogen, Finishing Touch Paint Sealant and SWAT*
, blah, blah, squeeze blood from turnip +$2980

Dealer Discount $5,000 so net $2,020

RAM 2023 Incentive 15% off MSRP ($11,450)

Dealer Add for Trade $2,000
Dealer Down Payment Match $2,000

So total $17,470 off MSRP.
Price is $58,865

The SWAT is a GPS tracker and they say they'll give you 'up to' $20,000 in addition to any insurance if car is stolen and not recovered in 30-days. I'm sure there' some loophole in there, not to mention selling my information to whomever is monitoring the GPS

The 3M clear film is worth something on the front. Not sure what the paint sealant is (if it's a ceramic coat that also might be worth something).

This one also has way more options than I'd ever think I'd ever want.

Sounds like an ordered truck no one picked up.

Badass truck and those options are worth the scratch.

3.92, 33 gal, and 6'4" were my must haves when shopping for my 1/2 ton Ram.

That's a heck of a truck for a heck of a deal. I just got a very similar RAM, but a 2024 4x4 midnight edition at the end of last month for a great deal as well. But yours has a few more options than mine and the 2024 is barely different.

As far as the 3.92 vs the 3.21, I have yet to see one anywhere with the 3.21. I looked all over the country for specific truck I was looking for (or close enough) and the right deal and never saw a 3.21. Not saying they aren't out there, but every truck I was interested in had the 3.92.

I LOVE my truck...the ride, looks, interior, etc. But it is a thirsty beast. So far I seem to get a blended rate of close to 17 mpg. My commute is 26 each way and about 80% highway (although decently hilly at times here in NC). I am guessing in the city I am getting 15 if lucky.

They took all the info. off my trade but still haven't given me a number. They want me to come in so they can "test drive it" but I'm going to text the salesmen and tell him you have the VIN, Mileage, Window Sticker and photos and you looked it over, you know what it's worth, send me some numbers.

Honestly though I'm on the fence about a truck. My wife says to me "you've always had cars and like sportier cars, are you sure you want a big truck". Can you rent something for 6-months?

I had a Ram 1500 as a rental for a week and liked it. I'm thinking I might just find something used without all the bells and whistles (just need heated seats and a V8) for ~$30k and drive it for a year and decide if I can live with it, then sell it and upgrade to the nice version I want. Yeah, it will cost me a few K, but it's better than buying new and losing $10-$15k if I decide I hate owning a truck and go back to a car.

I have the 3.92, 4wd, with the 33ga tank. See my Fuelly mileage below. Around town it does drink gas. Prob 14-15 driving around Katy. Freeway is much better. Obviously keep it between 65-70.

I've been told the 3.21 will be better by about 1 mpg.

They offered me $28,500 for my trade.

KBB and NADA say it's worth $34k trade value, private sale $39k.

They did agree to remove the "SWAT" which was $899.

Sales tax here is 9% so there is some extra value in that and the hassle factor of selling it private. But not over $10k.

I did find a grey/black 2021 Laramie with 36,000 miles. The dealer had it marked wrong on their web site at 71,000 miles and it was priced accordingly ($36k). When I looked at the carfax and photos, it clearly had 36,000 miles.

They discovered the mistake while I was dealing with them, but they've agreed to honor the numbers we discussed today only. They've already changed the price on there web site and they have their "Auto Group + plan" which adds $1,500, but that is still below KBB for the truck.
