Gathering parts to drop pan on transmission and replace fluid and filter along with both axles and trans case. 2017 f150 with the six speed. Conflicting info online regarding the transmission filter. One lists the FT-188 and another the FT-200. Anyone know which it actually is? Planning on getting a new Dorman pan.

Also, thoughts for rear diff going to Motorcraft synthetic 75-140 vs 75-85? Any issues there?

Thanks

You have to drop the pan to see. Also the gasket is reusable so be careful.

Use 75-140 for the axles.

Thanks 1ags! Would you use 75/140 in both front and rear or just the rear? Should whatever transmission filter is needed be readily available at a local auto parts store or have you seen issues with availability? After further thought leaning towards just reusing the factory pan vs switching, like you said the gasket is reusable and will do the filter each time I service anyway.

Follow the manual. I think it uses 75/140 for both.

What's the reason for the fdorman pan?

Has a drain vs factory where you have to drop it loaded

Ahhh. I just use my fluid extractor to remove from the fill hole

OP... you don't say how many miles on the tra nn y. Doesn't matter... don't cheap out and reuse the gasket. Just drop the ~$30-$50 on a new gasket. This is not the time to cheap out, and I don't care what naysayers say.

This, suck it all out of there before you drop it. Takes 10 min max.

If there aren't any leaks and the gasket is in good shape there's no reason to replace it. These aren't cork felpro gaskets from the old days. It's a rubber gasket with metal reinforcement around the bolt holes if memory serves. No need to spend the money. It's also not a high fail part. He's more likely to cause a leak by not torquing the bolts correctly than from a gasket failure.

All these transmission threads really make me feel like I am lacking on my maintenance.

Appreciate all of the replies. Any particular fluid extractor recommendations?

I use the hand pump pass through one that you can transfer to an empty bucket or container.

$10-$15 on Amazon.

Thanks. Will this also work for gear oil?

Yes, I used it for that as well. A bit harder to pump by hand, but not impossible.
