Trade-in advice - fix windshield or no?

I am getting ready to trade in a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe with 130,000 miles. It is in really good shape and well-maintained and is the Ultimate trim, so leather, third seat, really nice interior etc. But, still nearly 7 years old with high mileage. KBB tells me I can get $7500 on trade-in.

My question is about the windshield - it has a huge crack across the entire front. Is it worth the $250 to replace it? I wasn't sure if it would add that much value back. On the other hand, it may just make the car look better in general and get me the best possible trade-in. I would appreciate any advice; I've never actually traded-in a car before.

Thanks!

On a trade in, no. For a private sale possibly.

I would fix it. The car is probably going to be wholesaled, but on the off chance they keep it for a "below $10K special," its going to cost them more than $250 in time and materials to fix it. Thus, their trade offer will be lower if you take it in cracked.

At worst, its a wash.

For things like fluid changes, details, etc., the dealership is going to do all those things anyway if they keep the car. I think that's what Dill is getting at. But for this, unless they have these windshields laying around, they've got to order one and put it in IF they keep the car. But whoever sells it has to fix it.

Where you located? If in Houston area give Tomball Glass a call to see what they'll charge. They even do mobile and I would guess it'll be less than $250

Lol, they might vacuum and run it through a tunnel but you aren't getting a detail and fluid change.

If you buy a used car do yourself a favor and check/perform all this stuff yourself. Dealerships don't give a **** about you.

I posted before DR, Venkman telling you that I was interested in your vehicle. I am looking for a first vehicle for my son and it is 17th birthday next Friday. However, if you choose to ignore my post and sell it to someone else, that is your prerogative.

"I might be interested in your vehicle"

is nowhere near the same as

"I'm interested in buying your vehicle, here is my contact information, and to answer your question, I do not need the windshield repaired".

If you're going to try to call dibs, you're going to have to make your intentions clear.

I see your point. I should have made it clearer. I was thinking that at least I would get a response back .
You are correct, I should have said all of that.

I'm sorry, I was reading fast and missed that - Dr Venkman got my attention probably because his was the last post but I certainly didn't mean to ignore yours. If you'd like I can send you some information about the car, just let me know an email or number.

No worries at all. I understand that his post was more definite and informative than mine as well.
