Kind of sucks, but Repro works at a dealership known for putting ADMs on their vehicles.
I called him a while back, and at that time even for a standard Bronco they were 5k over. So I hung up, did my homework and found a dealer in South Dakota that sold me my Bronco Badlands Sasquatch for 2500k under MSRP.
Meh, I don't mind individuals and businesses trying to maximize return on a sale. Most capitalists shouldn't. If you don't like the price, all you have to say is "no" and move on as it appears you did. Running down a salesman for doing what any of us would do as well doesn't seem fair in my opinion.
Eh, I'm as much of a capitalist as anyone, but vehicle sales are another animal. The manufacturer tells us what the vehicle is suggested to be worth in order for the dealer to make a nice profit over what they paid to get the vehicle in stock. And if there was any way to buy direct from Ford, that would be the high water mark for what someone would have to pay for a Ford and perhaps consumers could even buy for much less than MSRP if direct sales were possible.
But instead the dealerships have a monopoly on selling vehicles to customers, and because of that monopoly, they like to take advantage of customers when able to.
The salesman isn't involved in pure capitalism, the dealers have worked themselves into privileged positions mostly through political lobbying where they purchase from Ford for a low price and then hold customers hostage because we don't have other options.
I'm sure Repro is a nice guy outside of work, but I have no interest doing business with a dealership who operates like the one he works at does. I'm also sure that some days he goes home knowing he reamed a good Aggie on a deal because he's "the board hookup" and he likely doesn't shed tears on our behalf.
You all should look into Granger Ford in Iowa if you have time to order your Fords, and you'll save much more even when accounting for the cost to ship or drive home.
And for those wondering, I bought from Lewis and Clark Ford in Yankton South Dakota. Small dealership, but on the Ford site you can track incoming vehicles, and I had good timing and an attractive trade to make the deal I did.
