My wifes truck failed the inspection because the license plate light or lights do not work!
It is a 2022 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD.

Can someone tell me if this just comes out with the bolt? Or do you just pull on the wire a certain way?

It might just be the bulb that's burned out and all you should have to do is pull the socket out below the bolt. you just have to push down on the clip and it pulls right out.

I was hoping someone would tell me that. I have been fiddling with it but just not pulling hard enough or maybe turning it the right way. It looks like it has a tab on it but so far have not been able to budge it, it feels solid.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to go out there tonight and try a little harder.

unfortunately it looks like an assembly, the wire will unplug but does not seem you can replace the bulb separately.

that part number available a bunch of places
The tab has a lock that you have to depress while pulling it.

Most of the Mopar connectors on my 2019 Jeep have a sliding lock that you have to snap out first, then you squeeze in the right place while you pull the connector out. They all have a slightly different secret handshake that won't matter anyway after you break it getting it loose the first time.

I'd take the connector out and make sure it is getting power with a multimeter when the headlights are on.

Looks like an led board, not a bulb. Whole assembly replaces.

You should have two of these and if both are out, I would check power to them first.

Seems unlikely that you would lose both sides on a 2022 truck.

Do you have running lights?

I will check tonight if the running lights are all working. Thanks

Wife called the dealer and they told her that the truck is under warranty but this light problem is not covered by warranty.

If not, check for a blown fuse.

Well all the running lights are operating fine.

I will check further on the warranty. I know warranties do not cover any routine maintenance which might be what they are trying to get away with..... we will see.

Thanks for the replies. The assembly is supposed to be here today.

Just thought I would post to let you guys know what actually happened to my wifes Dodge Ram. About 3 months ago she had backed into a pole and had some significant body work done on the passenger side of the vehicle. She got her truck back a little over a month ago. It turns out, that body shop had not put something back where it belonged with that wiring. Problem solved.

I do kinda feel bad that I did not disclose the "whole story" initially, but really had not even thought of that body work as a factor at the time.
