Hi guys. Do any of you know a trusted auto mechanic near Garland who could squeeze me in for a used car pre-purchase inspection. I have an engine concern that I'd like either debunked or supported.

Alternatively, have any of you used a mobile mechanic that you can order for this exact purpose?

This used to be Frank Marino's Texaco Service center but Frank sold it not long ago. Billy Reid runs the place and is the most honest mechanic I've ever met. Good person, shoots you straight. Call and ask when Billy is available (he doesn't work 6 days a week anymore).

I've never had a pre purchase inspection done, so I don't know if they even do them, but I live in Rockwall now, and I have always done all my own maintenance and repairs, but when I get stumped, strapped for time, or just don't want to do a particularly nasty job I take it to Billy. They aren't much cheaper than a dealer, but Billy is 1000 times more honest.

This was my go to place when I lived in Richardson.

Another place not too far away is Northaven Lube, on Northaven (between Royal and Forest) on the west side of 75. Grew up in the neighborhood and have been going there literally my entire life.

Ask for Bill, the owner. Same story as with the place above... extremely honest and won't BS you. More often than not I've been turned away when I thought I had a certain issue and he told me it was something else much cheaper.
