I'm not even sure I know where to post this -- Metro, Outdoors, here...

Anyway, its about time to go fill up my gas can for my mower/small engines. I went back to the site I checked before that gave me Bucees in Denton as my source. I am headed down towards Red Oak next week and hoping to find something in or around Ellis county rather than up north. But I saw several sites in Arlington. I'm like, what? Tarrant county opened up? Then Dallas, then a place 2 miles from me!

When did Texas start selling E-free gas in larger counties? It wasn't that long ago because when I filled up this spring (sometime in March) I had to make a trek to Denton. None of these sites were open.

A bit expensive to fill up the car (about a dollar a gallon more) but if you wanted to run good gas for a tank or two, it might be worth it.

Bucees in Ennis has it.

No need to go to Ennis. That's my point: 5 Murphy's in the CITY of Dallas have it. One in Far North Dallas. Two on the east side and two on the west.

Murphy's typically has it, I can't recall seeing one that doesn't have it. QuickTrip is 50-50. You're also more likely to find it near popular boating areas.

How can an EPA nonattainment county sell ethanol free gas? I guess that's the question.

Around Austin the QT stores have it. I'm not sure, but I don't think they are a local thing.

This. I go to Murphy's most the time for this reason.

I bought some at a QT in San Antonio.

Most of the ethanol free pumps I've seen have a sticker that says "for recreational / off road use" or something to that effect. So maybe there's a loophole there?

as long as the base product is RFG, and has the correct RVP, then whether or not ethanol is added doesn't matter

I was curious about this because I used to be able to never find ethanol free in Collin county outside of buc-ee's.

I can confirm that all the pumps at murphy's in Prosper has ethanol free 90 octane as of last night. it was 4.28 a gallon.

on https://www.pure-gas.org/ it seems that a lot of murphy's were updated at the same time by user "murphy". leads me to believe someone in the know added them to that website.

Noticed recently that the Murphy station I go to on occasion had ditched E85 and was selling Ethanol free in its place. One extreme to the other.

I live in Magnolia and the closest places for me (according to the Puregas link) are Conroe & Waller, both about 40 minutes away.

This is an example of some bad gas that got pumped out of a tank a few years ago.

Many of the Murphy stations around me now carry 89 or 90 octane ethanol free. If you haven't looked in a while, might check.

Also, if buying for small engines, pump the first gallon into your vehicle before your can.

The Murphy's I usually go to switched several months ago. Ever since I noticed it at that one, every other Murphy's I've been to has had ethanol free and no E85. I guess they figured they'd sell something that people wanted rather than something that no one did.

I only ever bought E85 when returning rental cars.
