Bought a VW Atlas and there is no pre drilled holes for front license plate. Would prefer to not have a front plate but also don't want a ticket for it either. Does anyone have a recommendation for a no drill front bracket?

I bought a no drill bracket a couple of years ago for my 5.0 Mustang. Online I paid close to $80 for something that I could have (I found out later) bought from Wal Mart for less than half that.

You may have to shop around online to find one for your particular make and model.

If in Texas, leave it off, you'll be fine.

The Texas State Trooper who pulled me over says differently

They can't fine you for it any more, they can pull you over for it.

It's stupid.

Haven't had a front plate on a vehicle in Texas in over 6 years. The one trooper that has pulled me over in that time frame mentioned it, but he pulled me over for speeding.

You'll be fine. Don't ruin the front of your new car.

My son just got pulled over for having his front plate on the dashboard. Just a warning but I still thought it was BS. $10 plate frame from Amazon with a flat iron strip behind the bumper solved it.

Not sure if the Atlas has a front screw in tow hook like the cars, so you might could also get away with one of those brackets that screws in there. I wasn't able to find any specifically spec'd for an Atlas.

That's because as far as the law goes, having it on your dashboard is the same as not having it at all. I've always wondered why people do this.

I haven't run a front plate on either of our cars for 15 years and never will. only been pulled over for it once. Just a warning.

Have several vehicles over the past 10 years that i've run no front plate on. Never been pulled over for it either, and even if i did, i wouldnt put a plate on.

It's something that gives the cops an excuse to pull you over and see what you're up to. After midnight, they look for reasons to pull people over, this is an easy one for them.

That's really the only risk

I've been driving for 30 years without a front plate, only pulled over once, when I was maybe 20, in a hot rod VW. Didn't get a ticket then, either. I would just not run a plate.

I knocked the front plate off an old truck once pushing another car. I just kept it in the glove box and if I was ever asked I told them I "hit a deer and it fell off, haven't put it back on yet". They never questioned me beyond that and I never got a ticket for it.

I've been driving my current car for 3 ish years now with no front plate. No problems there either.

Leave it off. I've not had a front plate on any vehicle I drive in 20 years and have only been pulled over once by DPS. It isn't worth the time and ruins the front end of just about every vehicle besides the Pontiac Aztek.

They absolutely can fine you. You're about a decade out of date.

That oversight was around for ~a year and was corrected in 2013. Fine is $200. What's worse is the state raised the fine from a max of $10 before the "oversight" to $200 after
