Long story short, been looking at SUVs. Been driving cash cars for the last decade. Anything newer will be a massive upgrade, so don't mind it being a 2015

Currently on new 2024 Lexus GX waitlist at Sewell, but I believe I am going to pull the trigger on this tomorrow as I have decided that waiting probably a year and paying as much as they will trade for is something I want to do yet. Happy with older fun car with low miles.

TLDR; Please pick this apart if you see anything odd. Original MSRP was $130k per running VIN

Seems like a good deal and probably wont cost you much if you only keep 2-3 years

Yup aware of all maintenance costs associated with upkeep. Spoke with service advisor at Park Place Porsche and got exact costs. Honestly not much more than regular upkeep of a Subaru (current car).

As a 992 911 owner good luck with maintenance and upkeep being the same as a Subaru!

Yeah that didn't come across right haha. To maintain Subaru at Sewell… the price for oil change, tires, 30k services is worth the increase in price for the amount of car you get. (I.e. - 2 $125 bi- annual oil changes at Sewell vs an annual at $325)

I save $150+ an hour working on my Porsche.

Keep up on the maintenance items, you'll be good.

The price looks great... and it's got a %$*&#$% V-8 with great displacement.

I too, am in the market for another ride... and could be all in for the Caywhatever.. but likely will go with the Macan.

Good luck.

Something to consider if you're planning to keep the car for a good while: buying/negotiating into the deal an extended warranty. I bought a 2016 981 GT4 a year ago from an individual who purchased a 7 year comprehensive warranty from CNA for $3500 in Oct 2020. That warranty is good through Oct 2027 and honored by my shop here in Houston.

Do some research and if you find a high-quality extended warranty for a good price/value, might be a good hedge against potential high cost repairs. When looking at this particular car and as part of the purchase decision, I researched the long-term viability of CNA and also confirmed my shop would honor CNA.

Just a suggestion.

We have extended warranties on our Cadillacs and they paid for themselves early in the warranty. If Porsche is anything like Cadillac for reliability I highly recommend.

Spend some time on Rennlist - it's the best resource for all things Porsche, IMO. You find all of the good, the bad, and the ugly on your potential model.

Would check to see what's left on those tires.

And brakes. Very pricey and usually needs replacement by 40k

You'll be spending cash car money on maintenance. Admittedly, I didn't read the ad, just read Porsche and in my experience, you gotta pay to play with that emblem.

What does this mean? The way I read it is "it's a pricey piece of *****"

Are they unreliable? Do they break down? Do they require a 5,000 oil plug wrench to change the oil?

I thought I had read on here that Porsche was the best for reliability out of the German cars?

They are but you have to pay to play. Maintenance is a much higher cost than typical cars. Maintenance and reliable two different discussions.

What's expensive about maintenance? I'm seriously curious. It's a regular old gas burner yes? Oil, fluids, spark plugs, etc??? Why is maintenance more than any other vehicle? I'm like 90% sure you can get all maintenance items at Oreillys just like I can for my old Dodge.

Parts. Parts are more expensive. Oil change is an oil change. Brake job is a brake job. It's just the price to entry that spooks people, especially if you don't do your own maintenance.

Porsches are dead nuts reliable. Pay for maintenance by the book and don't listen to these ford drivers. Great choice.

Had a 996-911 for 13 years. Except for window motor replacement (one time) and the IMS bearing change, I did all the work; oil, filter, serpentine belt, brakes, convertible top... Never felt it was any more expensive....though it did take 9.5 qt of oil. Oh, rear tires only last about 10,000 miles, for my car.

Service at a dealer is certainly going to cost you.

But if you DIY, parts aren't more necessarily more expensive -- unless you are a stickler where you have to have "Porsche" written on the box instead of "Mahle" etc. -- who was likely the OEM maker of the part in the Porsche box anyway.

The internet has changed everything with Euro cars.

Wife has a 2017 Porsche Macan S, 3.0-liter twin turbo V6. Found an oil leak and a water pump leak at 29k miles that turned out to be known issues. Austin dealer had the car for a month, as they needed to pull the engine to repair the leak. Apparently this problem involves a number of vehicles 2016-2018. Porsche covered repairs as we were just under the 30k and just over the 3 year warranty marks.

. The labor is also a lot more. Not only $ per hour, but time as well. To change the plugs on most cars, you have to take of a few plastic pieces covering the engine and pull the coils and plugs. So couple of hours labor total.

In German cars, you have to spend 2-3 hours taking off all kinds of other stuff just to get to the plugs, then use a special thin walled 12-point socket to get the plugs out.

Good point. Euro shop rates are typically more, and to work on it yourself, you're going to need a Schwaben catalog and a set of triple squares
