Love my truck but $1800 to fix a P2007 code? Half down to order the parts and it could be months before they arrive.

This is at my dealer who I like. What the hell happened to Ford? The money is one thing but the months of waiting on parts is ridiculous.

The money up front I've never been asked to pay before.

Was their biggest fan. Now hoping Elon takes over the whole industry. Something like 25 moving parts on his rig.

I bought the truck thinking it was my last last chance to buy another V8. Looks like I was right.

Sounds like you need an independent auto shop's (not Christian Brothers) opinion before you go buy a Tesla.

I own 4 Fords. Not going to happen anytime soon.

I know it's a rant but seriously in 30 years of Fords I've never been asked to pay up front for the parts they may arrive in 3 months. Aggie dealer.

CS Ford has a bad reputation on this board. Take it to one of the many good shops in BCS and see what they say.

Go aftermarket? The 5.0 or 3.5?

my manifold went out on my 17 under warranty.

I'd just get a boss manifold and do it yourself. it would be cheaper than $1800 and its not that hard - just get it tuned.

I have a '19 now, same motor, no problems but the electronics are *****

5.0, I dropped it off on my way out of town. I'll deal with them more when I return. It's not so much the cash as the upfront $ and no idea when parts can get here.

I'd really like another 2-3 years out of this truck. I love the power.

Yeah, I have been waiting a few months from my local Ford for a wheel hub and they guy just keeps pushing the arrival time back. Now, I have no idea when it will come in. Probably will be my last Ford.

Intake manifold on our 2016 went out over Christmas. Our shop told us the part was under an "intergalactic back order". This was the 5th time we had the truck in the shop in 3 years. We got rid of it

Ford put a new engine in mine at 95,000 miles under warranty when it blew a piston ring and blew all the oil out the tailpipe. This engine only has 45k on it so should last a while longer. They ended up putting a long block in it as they couldn't source a short block after giving me a rental for 3 months. They did me right then, but that engine shouldn't have blown at 95k either.

That manifold has 145k or so miles so I'm not too upset it's broke. Engines break and I really haven't had any other issues.

But asking customers to fund their supply chain issues upfront is going to drive a lot of us away. I'm hoping it doesn't screw something else up while I'm waiting. They assure me I can drive it until it comes in.

How does an intake manifold "go out"? I guess they are plastic and crack?

Oh for the good old days when things were cast iron or aluminum and they weren't trying to save every ounce of weight for the stupid CAFE standards.

There is a valve inside that gets stuck apparently. Code P2007

I hear Whipple, VMP, and Roush all make nice intake manifolds that really make a gen 2 coyote shine!

Anyone have a trusty shop that can install after market manifold?

I'm looking for advice on a similar problem that Build It had. My 2016 5.0 with 100K miles is having the same issue or at least I'm pretty sure it is. I say "pretty sure" because I haven't had it diagnosed yet but it's running the exact same way as it did when the intake manifold had to be replace at around 35K.

Best I can tell, replacement manifolds aren't available yet and still no timeline on when/if they will. So it looks like my options for a current fix or to upgrade to a Gen 3 manifold or to get a lock out kit (but where's the fun in that). Both would require tuning.

If I opt for the manifold upgrade, any suggestions on which one? I've seen recommendations for the Cobra Jet (which seems like overkill and $$), the Boss 302, and the GT. Another question I have is whether to buy the a kit online like this complete package that I've seen recommended and have it installed or just take it to a performance shop and have something installed and tuned so I don't have to buy a programmer. If the latter, any recommendations for a shop in Houston that does stuff like that? I'm taking my truck to my normal mechanic tomorrow and see what he thinks but I wanted to check here first for any advice.

Thanks in advance.

Definitely not the Cobra Jet, it'd make the most peak power, but you're not going to be spinning the engine high enough to take advantage of it. Not to mention cost and work it entails.

Aces Performance on Fairmont should be able to set you up nicely. They have a dyno on site and work with Lund for tuning. I'd expect that they recommend Boss or '18 GT intake

No LS swap?

Just kidding. Thanks Silvy. Exactly the type of information I was looking for.

CS Ford sucks.

Spent more time on the phone being bounced back and forth between service "advisor" and parts to determine if they had what I need and the time to fix my truck, than I actually spent grabbing the parts, replacing myself, and drinking a beer or two.

Wouldn't use CS except in a pinch (like my vehicle died on the road and it could roll into their service lane without a tow).

Navasota has done well for us, just a trip down there. Bill Fick also.

Tons of Ford parts are on backorder. They don't care. You'll have to take it to a mechanic that will use after market parts. It will be cheaper too I would imagine. Ford sucks.

Over 3 months and still no part. Spoke with local shop, they won't tune or use after market parts.

I can find a ford racing manifold online, but it also requires a tune and a new upgraded throttle body.

Who knew it was so hard to find a shop to tune and upgrade!

Just saw the post about Aces in Pasa "get down" dena. On the way there……….

These guys are taking care of me. Will be out in next Wed. Thanks for the recommendation.

Good deal! Which intake? Presume tune as well?

2018 GT, with the IRMC lockout. Yes getting a Lund Racing tune.

Only thing that almost made me not get it was the premium fuel. But what the heck, now I get a race truck. Should have it back today. I'll report back.

Edit: should add this is a gen 3 going on a gen 2. Locking the IRMC is a plus for me as it will never break again. I've been reading stories of replacing with factory and they break in a year or 2 again.

Success, the guys at Aces fixed me up. Truck runs smoother than it did and noticeable power difference. Need to relearn how to drive it. Stepped on the gas and chirped the tires. Jumped on the free way and punched it to 100. Power all the way through and smoother gear changes than before. not sure how a tune does that. Higher RPM's with this tune so that's going to take some getting used to.

Overall I couldn't be happier.

Tell him to change the plugs, mine were toast. I'm assuming due to the manifold being screwed up for so long?

The push for EV is killing ford and GM and having ripple effects on their normal day to day. Why they slowed their full EV push

Take it to an EV thread, this thread is for making 5.0 trucks fast

I'll never forget watching my tach hit 7K rpms for the first time after getting a VMP tune. The crappy Roush tune that came with the blower had a 5,700rpm limit on a coyote. What a waste! Those engines love to rev!
