Why do they always look soo much better than gas powered? I will never own an electric car, but damn, they look good.

Why won't you own one? Just curious.

That is not really a reason, that is the same as saying you won't own one. Why?
That is a valid reason, just saying that you aren't plugging in your car isn't. I agree with you in that sense. I just bought an EV but my wife has a hybrid and I also have a truck for road trips, and situations where there might not be an easily accessible charging solution.Lake08 said:JAW3336 said:

What if I want to go somewhere for multiple days and I can't find a plug in?

Any expectation for when the recharge time will come down to even 5 minutes? This would be a game changer and my indifference to EVs means I really haven't kept up with the technology.AgGrad99 said:Quote:They do not yet have the range that will fully replace the functionality of ICE vehicles.
The range wouldnt be an issue, if you could 'fill up' in 3 minutes like you can at a gas station now.
Until that happens, it's an inconvenience I dont want

Level 3 Superchargers can take a Tesla from 0-170 miles range in just 30 minutes. It can get to 80% full in just 40 minutes. At the 80% point, charging slows to safeguard battery health

Plus how many years for the charging infrastructure to match gasoline?Ag03 CQE said:MaroonDontRun said:Any expectation for when the recharge time will come down to even 5 minutes? This won't happen until solid state battery technology reaches a point in which it can be implemented in electric cars and that's at least 5 years away.

Seriously. Starting a thread on the Automotive Board seems like it should have a requirement that pics be posted especially if one is extolling the virtues of certain cars.tk for tu juan said:
Guess we just have to imagine what these concept cars look like since there are not any photos posted

Grid can support no problem. Plug in inside your garage one night a week, no big deal. Much cheaper than $60 tank of gas.MaroonDontRun said:'03ag said:

Why would it bother anyone if someone doesn't want to drive an electric vehicle? I'm not saying that this is you but it seems like a couple of the responses on this thread seem emotionally attached to the fact that someone doesn't want to drive an electric vehicle.
I have several reasons for not wanting to own one at this point:
- The grid is not at a stage that it can support the widespread adoption of EVs.
- They do not yet have the range that will fully replace the functionality of ICE vehicles.
- Hybrids make a lot more sense in that you are not bound to a charger at all.
- I relish the visceral experience of driving ICE vehicles that I fear electric will not provide. I realize that EVs can provide higher performance, but it just doesn't seem the same.
