And there is a crackdown going on, "Operation Cinderblock", as I found out today.

I just went to the sketchiest looking place near 45 in Spring. One-man hole in the wall Inspection shop.

I pulled up with windows down and he asked me to roll up my windows a little bit, and he eye-balled them and said "OK". I thought cool, that was easy. Then he hopped in and tested the brakes.
Then pulled into his bay and put the Tint tester on my window and said he can't pass me.
He said the state is doing a major crackdown on Inspections. :-/

Earlier in the week I went to THE sketchiest looking place near me and I pulled up and this old raggedy guy cane out and said "Don't get out, this shop is having issues connecting to the state inspection system. Lots of places can't!"

Translated: "This shop got busted and is suspended".

I've got one more place to try tomorrow on Louetta, fingers crossed.

Man, glad we don't have this inspection nonsense in AZ. I have my windshield tinted w/ 70% and my sides & rear w/ 35%. As a bonus we don't have front plates either. Downside is my registration costs an arm and a leg.

Don't be a wuss about it and pull the fuse.

I'm not from that area, but we went through a similar round of crackdowns with local inspections. It was do-able for a few years, but it was clear the state was out for blood. I found one guy that didn't even go out to look at your vehicle, but I rolled up one year and he didn't do it anymore because he'd gotten busted. I eventually just had to have the tint redone on the front side windows.

I'm honestly surprised that anyone does inspections. They can't make that much money on them.

Inspections are a waste of time for the consumer and for $7 for the business to boot.

State really needs to increase the 2 years post buy new car to at least 6.

My old truck failed once for window tinting. Went to another place down the street where it "passed", but they couldn't issue the sticker because it had been flagged. They said I had to go back to the failing location because no other shop would be able to do it. Made it sound like a state thing. Hope you have better luck.

You'd have no problem, windshield isn't dark enough to be noticeable and other windows are beyond legal.

I know a guy but I'm not sharing.

In my case, the guy asked me if I wanted him to go ahead and enter it even though it would be a Fail, so I told him no thanks.

SUCCESS!!!

My 3rd option worked out. It was another 1-bay sketchy looking setup, but it was in and out no problem.

One more strike and I would have gone back to Fabian and have him re-tint!!!

I got a guy in spring branch but sounds like you got a guy now too
