Bought new. Last year the compressor started making audible noise. Continually got worse until it was constant. Took it in and Sterling diagnosed the following problem:

Air ride shock got a leak which caused compressor to over work and eventually wear out.

Warranty replaced around Christmas. New one began making audible noise within 3-4 weeks. Gradually got worse. Took it back in. Diagnosis was "no problem." I call bull**** bc it never made a noise before. New part ordered.

Apparently these compressors are hard to come by. 6-7 weeks later a new one goes on. Leave dealer on Friday, by Sunday the noise is back.

It's kicking on for ~10-12 seconds every 2 min 15 seconds. Not as noisy as first two, but still audible in cabin and outside cabin.

Anyone else have experience with this part? Ready to take it back in for another one but want to hear if anyone else has similar experience.

Are you sure you don't have another leak

I'm not sure. I ASSume the compressor shouldn't kick on every 2 min 15 secs, but I don't know what a normal interval is as the original one never made an audible noise until it went bad.

In my mind, this breaks down in to two pieces:

1) Do these new compressors all make noise?
2) is the air ride suspension still leaking therefore making this compressor come on more often, therefore it's more noticeable?

Compressors should be mostly silent. And they shouldn't run that often.

If the compressor is noisy it's likely due to worn bearings on the motor or water intrusion.

This is what I would think. Are they just putting cheap Chinese replacements on vs an OEM (yes, I know - it's likely Chinese as well) compressor on as the "new" part?

Dealers will put in a replacement pump. I'm not sure anyone would even know how to replace a bearing.

Like my parents pool pump. I replaced a noisy bearing vs replacing the motor like the pool place wanted to do.

Got it. Thanks for the input. Back on their schedule to get it back in the shop. So frustrating....

I replaced the shocks and compressor in our '15 Yukon towards the end of 2021. Pretty sure the shocks were leaking, causing the compressor to run more often. I wonder if I could have saved the compressor if i had replaced the shocks earlier but we were finishing getting our house built and were living in a rental house for 3 months. All my tools were packed up in storage. I ordered the parts online from whoever had them listed the cheapest. They have held up (knock on wood).
