Anybody have an opinion on this vehicle? Good or bad. Also anything else to consider in this class of suv? TIA

No personal experience but I know this board is a big fan of those. I think they look great!

Wait for the 90

I saw that the 90 is replacing the 9. One positive I have seen from a couple dealers is that they are coming of MSRP to make room for the 90's. What will the 90 have over the 9 and will it make sense in cost?

90 will be a more modern interior with an inline 6 cylinder instead of the 2.5 4 cylinder.

The CX-9 is great, and the interior build quality is very good. I wouldn't feel bad about going for the CX-9 since it's a proven vehicle. That drivetrain is bulletproof.

Gorgeous suv, we went a different route since the cx-9 didn't have very good 3rd row space or behind third row cargo. At least not good enough for us, might suite your needs though.

We bought a CX-9 about a year ago and have been very happy with it. Good space, interior is really nice especially for the price point. I would definitely recommend you consider it.

The -90, grand highlander, and Pilot seem like pretty solid choices, imho. The longitudinal V6 seems like the main advantage to me.

I spent the better part of two years looking at that segment of cars. Wanting to buy 2-3 year old vehicles. Researched:

QX50
Pilot/MDX
Caddy XT6
CX9
Enclave
Telluride/Pallisade

The Caddy and the Tellride/Pallisade were recently introduced and all very "hot" in the marketplace.

Didn't car for the Infinity. That left the Mazda, Buick and the Pilot. (didn't see a clear advantage to move up to MDX)

Wife and I decided we would be happy with any of these cars so, we just looked for the best deal. narrowed it down to 3. Two Pilots in Houston and a CX9 in Austin. The Mazda sold before we could go see it so we drove both Pilots and ended up buying a 2021 Pilot in Maroon.

I think all of these vehicles are pretty good. Drove a rental Enclave two weeks ago and liked it alot. Son purchased a new Telluride and that car is VERY good. I was disappointed in the ride and noise in the Cadillac. Very happy with my Pilot. It is my wife's daily driver and she loves it.

That being said, that new CX90 looks really nice. Go with your gut.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Huge fan of our 2018 CX-9, drives fun for an SUV and a much nicer interior than similar SUV's

Question about these.

I had a brand new CX 5 as a rental the other day. I assume the CX 9 is similar. It isn't a touch screen. Is the knob/ button something you get used to. It was very difficult to use having not done it before. I'm talking about navigating through Apple Car Play.

I've gotten so used to the Mazda knob that I feel handicapped when I'm in a car with just a touchscreen. You learn to use the shortcut buttons for music, nav, etc. and get quicker with it than the screen.

It's also safer imo, as you can develop that muscle memory to the point that you keep your eyes on the road more.

Ditto on the comments about it being safer

We purchased a 2023 CX-9 Tour Plus recently as it ticked all the boxes for my wife's needs and was available at a decent discount with the CX-90s coming in soon.

My truck has a touchscreen, so it takes a bit of adjustment using the knob. Her previous SUV was the same way but without Apple Carplay, so it was no difference to her.

I just picked up a new CX-50 yesterday. Absolutely love it. Very impressed with the Mazda lineup overall

My son has as CX5 with the knob and it can be incredibly annoying and awkward when you are not used to it. That being said you can get used to it as I'm pretty convinced my son could drive the car with the knob if Mazda had that feature. He flies through the screens so fast I can't keep up.

Exactly. People always hate it when they try it out briefly, but live with it for a month and you can't go back.

The CX-9's are pretty nice for what they are. The -90's are trying to move upmarket, clearly.
