Tire recommendations for tow vehicle

Need to replace tires on 2020 F150 that we tow a 6000lb camper. Has factory 275 55 r20 Goodyear Adventures. Truck is 4x4 and wanted to move up to 275 60 r20s. Found some Goodyear Authority AT 275 60 r20 115s. Getting mixed reviews that those are maybe not rated enough. Advice would be appreciated!

Goodyear tires are typically not well liked. I have no personal experience with the ones you are asking about, but my experience with Goodyear is they never last as long as they should and the rubber seems to get hard and lose grip before the tread is gone. Maybe they have gotten better in the 20 years I've stayed away from them.

The standard tire of choice here and on most auto related boards is Michelin. Michelin LTX AT2 or LTX M/S2 for trucks. They're expensive but there are many reviews of them lasting beyond their warranty life.

I've got 265 70R 20 Hankook Dynapro AT2s plus Ford factory glossy black wheels (Black appearance package) that I'll let go if interested. My tires/wheels are coming off of a 2022 with only 1600 miles on them. They're in pristine condition.

-Michelin Defender M/S if you're only on the road.
-Michelin LTX AT2 if you want a slightly more all terrain look.

Appreciate the advice but not going to spend double on the Michelin tires. My concern was the load on 115's. Not stuck on Goodyear and have been happy with them so far just don't get but about 55,000 with towing twenty percent of the time. Even with proper rotation. Would like to stay at least at or below $300 before tax and mounting per tire. Buying tires is like looking for electric providers!

Sorry, when I initially replied I misinterpreted your comment about not rated enough as there not being enough feedback from previous owners.

Once I reread it I knew what you really meant but basically didn't have enough information to provide a useful response. I understand that the 115s is a load index rating, but I don't have those ratings memorized so I have no idea how many pounds that represents. Nor do I know what rating your original tires had, which would at least tell us if the new tires you are proposing are at least equivalent or better than what Ford specified for the truck from the factory.

To give you a complete and accurate answer to your question, in a perfect world, you would provide the readings from truck scales for your rig and trailer as normally loaded.

I assume you don't really need that kind of answer and you're just comparing tires working under the assumption that your GVWR and individual GAWR are not overloaded by such a small trailer.

So, I would ensure that the max load in pounds of these new tires is equal to or better than what the truck originally came with. You can also look at the loading sticker on your door jamb and make sure that 2 of these new tires can carry more than the axle rating of either the rear or front axle to ensure the axle will be the weak link rather than the tires.

If your truck handles your trailer well with the current tires then replace them with something that has an equal or higher load index rating.

Also, be careful not to arbitrarily jump up to a D or E Load Range tire if it is overkill for your situation without realizing that those higher load range tires are usually heavier than lower load range tires so they will kill your fuel mileage.

Thank you for your response! Looks like 115 is sufficient load wise with the camper too.
