Posted on Houston board too, but you fine folks seem to know more about stuff
Anyone know a place, or person to get a small electronic device looked at?
Backstory: When I was a kid, we had a silly little Christmas ornament on the tree that you could record a message on and it would play it back (circa '93). Being of that vintage, I'd assume it's very rudimentary technology. Well, my wife and SIL found two of the exact one my mom has on eBay and ordered them. My brothers works, but ours doesn't. All my mom wants for Christmas is these things back with recorded messages from the grandkids. It's has 3 functions, on/off, record, and play. When you turn the on/off switch, the light doesn't come on, but when you hit the record button, it does light up, but then the play button doesn't play back. So it's not a complete list cause, as it's getting power someway, I'm hopeful that maybe it's just a little something has shaken loose inside over the years and someone with electronics knowledge could maybe bring it back. This specific one she wants hasn't been made since '97, so the manufacturer isn't much help, and there aren't more to buy to replace it. I've been to a couple of tv/radio type repair shops around Houston and none will even mess with it.
So what say you, got any ideas of someone who could figure something out?
