I changed the Rotors and pads out on the front of my 2013 F150. AC Delco Gold rotors and Powerstop Z36 pads. The pads have a horrible gridding noise to them when stopping at low speeds. Do you think it's due to something not lubricated enough or could the pads be crap? I thought I was generous with the lube on the pad ears and pins.

If I was to change to different pads, what do you recommend?

Seems like there's a wear in procedure for pads and rotors. Been a while. Someone will know.

Yeah I did the manufacture break in and have driven 100-200 miles and they still sound horrible. I'm at the point where I'm embarrassed to stop around people standing outside.

New brakes with grinding is 99% a glazing/bedding in problem (1% pad installed backwards problem, ha.) If pad orientations are all good, maybe try the bed-in again which will cook em hot and hopefully result in better surface after cool down.

Are the pads installed correctly? One pad has an ear and one does not per side.

The power stop box indicated they had a redesign and all their pads were identical now.

Interesting, didn't know that. I'm out of ideas then

This.

Some pads have a hump on one side and flat on the other.

Where are you located?

I used house branded advance auto top of the line pads and my F150 would make this grinding groan as you came to a stop with stout braking. It neever caused any issue otherwise. Switched back to thermoquiets after I wore them out at 40,000 miles and no issue since. Thermoquiets squeal, house brands grind, pick your annoyance.

Not sure if it affects braking performance but all of my trucks are 20+ years old and take three weeks to stop so if you pull out in front of me, you're going to need a new ass end no matter what. Lol.

Your Ford doesn't like having AC Delco parts on it…
