How long do you want to ignore this user?
Also posting this in the nerdery

My parents SUV will start even if the key fob is not in the vehicle

either we lost the key and it's hidden in the vehicle somewhere which is why I need the RF ID finder or

the ignition computer module is broken and looking for any leads on how to borrow or a shop that might have one to sweep the car for a potentially misplaced key fob

If there's a chance there is a key inside the car, I'd thoroughly look underneath the seats and between the consoles (and every other possible hiding spot) and eliminate that option before pursuing other more complex possibilities.

Thanks we really have checked as closely as two people can without tearing the car apart so we're on more complex solutions

I know in my F150, there is a place to stick the fob under the front cup holder (bottom rubber mat pops out). It is similar to using a key when placed there. Does your vehicle have a spot like that? May need to Google the vehicle to find it. I think it's used when the batter in the fob is dead.

I have not used the below product before, so research the quality before purchasing. According to google, the Ford key FOBs use a frequency of 315 MHz, so it's within the range of this device. Only $30 and you should be able to return it if it doesn't work.

Edit: I don't know if the key fob emits that frequency all the time, or only if you're pressing a button on it. If it's the latter, this would be useless.

Very helpful , and my reasoning is if the car is starting it is because the fob is transmitting so a " bug " finder will find the fob. If the I can't find a fob then the I am the more expensive solution of replacing module and getting new fobs

The computer will tell you how many fobs are programmed. You can erase all and just program back in the two you have, assuming there's three or more programmed now.
