I'm looking at installing one (maybe two) garage fans because it omgwtfbbq hot to the point I can't work on my cars without sweating out 10 pounds of water.

Anyone have recommendations on fans that can be mounted to the wall so they don't take up floor space?

I had a couple of these fans (Link). Overall, were decent at moving some air around and were good quality. If you're looking to buy something in this style configuration, I'd recommend them. I want to say that I looked through several models and this was sort of the best mix of price, quality, and CFM rating. Looks like they have an even larger size now. Probably the only complaint is these style fans are louder than a ceiling fan.

Since then, I replaced my garage door openers with a Jackshaft style opener. Since this eliminated my chain openers, I added a couple of cheap ceiling fans in their place. More centrally located, quieter, better CFM ratings - overall, much better effect for less money. If you could swing a couple ceiling fan, I'd recommend it. I've taken the wall fans down since. They weren't bad - the ceiling fans were just much better.

Good luck

I have a product similar to this on my back porch and garage. It'll move plenty of air.

Same here - jackshaft door opener and ceiling fan in the garage. Also added a powered roof vent and more soffit vents to the attic space above the garage. It will still get hot in the afternoons, but at least it's not unbearable.

I got tired of that years ago. Mini split is the way to go.

I have a squirrel cage from our old HVAC system and all it does is blow hot air on you. You have to get some cool air going somehow. Even swamp coolers don't work here due to the high humidity we enjoy nearly year round.

If you aren't going to do a mini split as suggested above, this is the way (but costs a bit): https://www.vyperindustrial.com/collections/vyper-fans/products/vyper-turbo-fan

Comes with tripod and wall mount.

The most powerful shop type fan of its size that I've seen.

A/C > fans. I'd self install a mini split. GL!

I think the next house I build will have an old school whole house fan for the garage.

I mean those old giant exhaust fans that houses had before a/c.

A couple months ago when i got AC installed in my house, I had the guys put in a vent fan in the top of the garage. Total game changer with respect to how hot my garage gets.

Did this on the third garage bay, which was divided from the other, and had no ceiling. Put in recessed lights, plywood ceiling an R30 insulation above that. Non insulated walls, but covered with a siding on the inside. Mini split keeps it at 74, with hardly a bump in electric cost. I did insulate the garage door with the Owens Corning GD01 kit and used white Gorilla tape as added fastening to the kit. Very satisfied.

And cool.
