Thoughts on Grand Cherokee L

Looking for input on the Grand Cherokee L. Thoughts?

My better half refuses to get a large SUV (Tahoe/Yukon/GX/LX/Sequoia/Land Cruiser/QX/Armada) because "they're too big and feels like driving a boat" (pretty confident she's never driven a boat but I'm not going to bring that up).

I will also not consider any of the other luxury brands besides Lexus/Infiniti due to maintenance costs. Would a Jeep/Dodge/Stellantis product be just as bad as an Audi/Mercedes/BMW on repairs? With the 5.7 engine I'd imagine the drivetrain is pretty proven at this point. I'm sure with the higher trim levels comes more doodads that break sooner than you think they should.

Thanks!

It's a Dodge. That is all you need to know.

A co-worker has had 3 Dodge's. She bought the first one... the engine was toast after about a year.... she bought the next one... the transmission was fried. She tripled down and bought the next one.

Now she has a Japanese made vehicle.

On the other hand, my SIL had a Cherokee that ran forever.... although it was frequently in the shop.

Just my $.02.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

My 8 yr old JGC has 90k miles on it.

Limited, 2WD, Hemi, 20" rims, luxury pkg

Drivetrain no issues.

Electric sun roof fabric panel is broken and stuck closed.

Interior starting to show some wear, but not bad.

Infotainment screen was badass when it was new, fairly standard these days.

Overall I've enjoyed it. Kind of wary about reliability going forward, but so far so good.

Started to see a few of them when dropping the kid off at school, not bad looking. If you are using the engine as a basis point for reliability, specifically with the 5.7 Hemi the issue is price. You have to get the Summit Reserve for that engine, all the other trim levels have the 3.6 V6. The Summit Reserve is $70k, at that price point you can get something much nicer and more reliable IMO like a Lexus GX.

I'd go Explorer, Telluride, Palisade, Ascent, 4Runner, as well as others before going Jeep personally.

That is my $.02.

We bought a 2022 Summit L and it's a nice vehicle with many cool features (to break) like massaging seats.
It has a useable 3rd row, night vision.

We Test drove one. Liked it but felt small. Couldn't both have your arm on the center armrest.

Liked the telluride and Pallisade much more.

Good luck finding one with the 5.7. Pretty rare from what I've seen
