I bought a '21 Jeep Gladiator about two months ago. I planned on supercharging it after I put 5k miles on it. Well, the right deal came around, so it looks like I'll be putting it on at 1000 miles instead. A local shop had a customer back out of an order after the supercharger had already arrived. I got a pretty amazing deal on it.

personally, i would recommend against it. the 3.6 in the JK was ok supercharged. the 3.6 in the JL/JT platform has been hell. most likely it will run ok for a little while and then run like sheet. you'll be fighting the tuning until you pull it off.

save the 7K plus you'll spend on the supercharger install and tuning. go see Bubba at Exodus 4x4 in New Braunfels and have them swap in a hemi.

thank me later.

I was going to congratulate, but the post above is a real drag. Too bad you can't remedy the power deficiency in a wrangler without doing an insanely expensive hemi swap or paying way too much premium for a 392. The 5.7L is a great motor and should be an option on the Wrangler/Gladiator. A V6 focused on high rpm power is just not sufficient for such a large vehicle with oversized tires. I don't get their refusal to offer the 5.7L hemi for a reasonable premium.

I had a maggie on my Tundra and it was flawless, but I could see how it might be problematic elsewhere. I've had two other aftermarket supercharger systems and they were both flawless as well. I did put a rod through the block of my Mustang but that was no fault of the supercharger itself, but Ford cheaping out on the connecting rods.

I'm a month or so out from my Harrop install on the Tundra, pending delivery from the manufacturer to the installer. Can. Not. Wait.

I probably would have purchased a Raptor or TRX before shelling out coin for an engine swap. I'll be using the Magnuson supercharger, but I won't be using their tune.

Maggie on my JKU 3.6 has been awesome...as long as they can tune the transmission correctly you should be good. Unless you have a manual like me and it's even better!

It doesn't push enough boost to scatter the 3.6...now if you look at a turbo system or RIPP system...good luck.

I get it. I'm just warning you now. Hope I'm wrong. But everyone I know with a JL/JT that did boost has had problems regardless of the type and tune.

Lots end up selling their rig and buying a ecodiesel or something else entirely.

3.6 in the JL/JT is different from our JK 3.6s. Already higher compression ratios starting out.

Well then

Good luck, have fun!

I'll document it on here. There is a member on a Jeep forum who has developed a well-reviewed tune that I intend to use. From everything I've seen, the Maggie tune is trash. If it doesn't work out, I can remove it.

I can't speak for the Jeep, but the Toyota/Maggie tune on my a tundra was pretty soft. It picked up substantial power with just a canned bullydog tune. On the F150 I had, I went from Roush tune to a custom VMP tune. That took my shift points up 1K RPMs and eliminated a problem where my truck would slam into the rev limiter and bog on the 1-2 shift. Custom tunes are the way to go! Keep an eye on your IAT temps and monitor A/F ratio with a wideband if you can.

Too much hassle in the JL. Just buy a 392.

The 392 commands a price over the Rubicon that is almost as much as I paid for an entire Challenger 392 T/A.

And it's worth every penny. Need to enjoy them while you can!

Stuff starting to show up. Waiting on a smaller pulley I ordered from Magnuson. Shipping my ECM off to get unlocked. Got a smaller belt and better idler pulleys. Just about ready for install.

Mechanical install is done. Waiting on my ECM to get back from getting unlocked, and then I can load my tune.

That's awesome! Mine goes on the dyno tomorrow and assuming nothing comes up I'll pick it up on Friday.

Nice. You do a supercharger, turbo, or an entire engine swap? Gotta post those dyno numbers when you get them.

Supercharger only but its a Tundra and not a Jeep. I'm excited to see how yours works out because I've thought whenever I retire this vehicle the Gladiator would be my next choice. If that were to happen today my heartburn would be the power so seeing someone SC it will be fun to watch!

Once I get dyno #'s I'll post.

Came back at 301 at the wheels on the baseline and 477 after the SC.

His dyno isn't in a heated garage so it was 16degrees last weekend when he did the baseline and 20 last night when he finished the install and tune.

He said dyno's vary and his tends to provide conservative #'s. THe nearest one to him is typically 10 to 15% higher. Most I've seen online show around 500 - 515 with the stage 2 Harrop kit and a tune so I'm comfortable saying I'm right in that area.

Bonus is I got 20.6 MPG on the way home driving 75 - 80, primarily highway but some lights on 380 and then once I exited to my hood. 55 mile trip. With little wind like today I'd normally be around 15 or 16 at those speeds. Just 100K more miles to pay itself back

The nannies/traction control immediately became intrusive. I ddin't even feel like I was giving it gas and I saw the light come on. I pulled back however before it hit the brakes. Once I get a chance I'll take it out somewhere, disable the nannies, put in 4WD, and let it rip!

That being said - my face when cruising at 75 and punched it to 90 to pass some vehicles!

Nitrous will cool the intake charge if you start having issues with IATs when it warms up. With the SC, a little will go a long ways.
