usually buy pre-owned, but that's out in this market.
got rid of an Infiniti JX35/QX60 that was having issues...really didn't like that car and all the problems (leaked, CVT, terrible suspension). Wasn't going to look at another Nissan/Infiniti but seems like the wife really likes the creature comforts vs. the dated Sequoia and wants to take a look. Personally think they are pretty ugly on the outside, but they are nice on the inside.

The US large SUVs are too expensive when loaded (really don't want to spend more than $60 + TTL), and I don't love the quality.

How does the Armada hold up quality wise long-term?

The Armada (and frontier and Titan) are about the only thing Nissan is doing right, the current iteration is based on the overseas Patrol. The 5.6 V8 in the armada is ollllllldd but proven. Both it and the sequoia need a serious overhaul which likely is why their prices are much lower than the flossy American equivalents that are rocking air-suspension, totally new designs and turbocharged engines.

If you want a decent deal
on a new Sequoia email me for my Toyota contact

if the QX is the best thing Infiniti makes and yours gave you trouble then buying a lesser vehicle from the same maker seems pretty crazy.
Clear choice is the Toyota IMHO

QX60 is a different deal than QX80 / Armada.

I have a 2010 QX56 with the 5.6 liter dill-ag mentioned. Knock on wood, it has been bullet-proof for us.

The Armada looks like ass and is not nearly as reliable as the Sequoia. The worst thing you can say about the Sequoia is it has a bland interior and the name is hard to spell.

I know.
Wife loved the Infiniti tech in her car, especially the stupid cameras (which I think suck). The new 21 has one of those ridiculous big screens which puts the Sequoia to shame. She'll love it

Sequoia every time. Buy the highest level you can. It will hold value and is good for 200k+ miles. I've owned 2 and would have a 3rd if it weren't for the Land Cruiser.

As expected she's in love with interior of the Armada. It really is pretty slick. Every bell and whistle you can think of. New screen, wireless charging, sensors and video cameras everywhere.
The negatives of the inside are the 3rd row legroom, neither 2nd/3rd row can move up/back, and the 3rd row doesn't lay totally flat.

The Sequioa drives better, still looks better to me on the exterior, and I know it will have better reliability on all the little things.

Price wise, loaded Platinums are pretty close with the discounts, Sequoia a little higher.

Sequoia can fit 37's (with minimal lift) and now has lockers available.

I was not a fan of the way the armada drove. Lots of roll in turns and nose dips upon breaking.

I know it's a huge vehicle but others in that class don't do that.

Agreed, the armada drives soft and squishy. We both prefer the sequoia drive.

The QX80 does?

I would assume qx80 has the same new screen, if that's what you are asking

I'm asking what you were referring to by "the new 21." I work on new QX80s every day and none of them have the big, Tesla-style screen.

The '21 Armada has an updated center stack / screen vs. the '20 and previous. I would assume QX80 does (or was done in a prior year).

old
something like

Love my Sequoia.

For spelling, just remember to use every vowel once.

Interesting. Unless I just happen to not have gotten one yet, the new QX80 does not have that screen.

You are correct, according to pictures they didn't update the 21 qx80 front stack. Surprising. It's pretty dang nice.

We decided Armada seating didn't quite work for us. The 3rd row is pretty terrible, fixed rows and doesn't work well with car seats, and hard to get to.

But the cockpit is super nice, really comfortable, tons of tech, though drive is soft and not responsive. It Doesn't nose dive in braking like previous models.

Wish it had worked outif you don't need car seats I'd check out the Armada.

yep, but it's still a Nissan and all that fancy crap will probably break in 1-2 years and then what?

Out of four Toyotas my family has owned, all have been dog***** Multiple recalls and issues that should have been recalls, but weren't to keep the lie of quality. My dad's Avalon self destructed on the side of 290. My Sequoia had a recall and went through 2 stock radios. Getting the repair done was painful - Toyota had to keep it for days and wouldn't give me a loaner. There was a common problem with the 2003ish models where they wouldn't crank/start if the temp was below 32F. My Sequoia knocked like crazy - sounded like marbles in a tin can every time I accelerated hard. Issue after issue after issue.

I had a 2011 Armada that I bought new for the same price as my 2003 Sequoia. Never had an issue. Rock solid. My wife now has a 2017 QX80 that has been the same. It's old tech, but it's reliable as hell and just works. I'll never buy her something that isn't a full sized Infiniti.

I've always felt outside of maybe the last 5 years on Nissans more "economy based" models, their quality has been fine. Their frontiers, Titans, and all platforms based off those designs I always felt were rock solid.

Nissans CVT issues are the obvious, and common, exception to my opinion above.

I have a Toyota - 4Runner Limited
My wife has a Nissan - Kicks

When I take her to JoAnn's - she's a preferred customer, including email coupons - we take the Toyota

The QX80's have two screens starting with the '20 MY, the new '21 Armada's have one bigger one.

I got a loaded low mile CPO QX80 a while back for $20K under MSRP and $10K less than new Tahoes. The Patrol bones are solid and the drivetrain has been around forever. Way stronger than a GM 5.3L. The QX80/Armada are what I imagine a Oldsmobile version of a Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade would be.

Nissan/Infiniti sells cars that are 90% as good as the competition for 80% of the price. I can live with that trade off.

Pulled the trigger on the Sequoia

Little disappointed in what it's lacking on the infotainment, but it will be a capable, reliable hauler for 15+ years.
