Inheriting a 2010 F150 Lariat and realized some of the lights are out on the instrument panel. Main light that is out is behind the speedometer. Dealership stated entire panel needed to be replaced and quoted $1300 over the phone.

Is this something I can do myself? I can't find any good videos on YouTube but seems like it shouldn't be that complicated. TIA

The lights on those clusters are LEDs that are soldered directly to the board. That's why Ford is quoting an entire cluster replacement. You can't just swap in a junkyard cluster either because the cluster is part of the antitheft system and has to go through a parameter reset when replaced to sync everything up. That requires a scan tool, but Forscan might be able to do that.

You can pull the cluster and ship it out to have the LEDs replaced. It's ~$150, but the truck will be down several days.

Well that's not what I wanted to hear. Had not even thought about needing to go through the parameter reset and the anti theft system.

Have another vehicle still so could send it off but would still need the scan tool right?

There's plenty of online places that will fix this. Circuit board medics, etc all can turn around in one day.

no scan tool needed if you send out your existing cluster to be fixed. They'll just replace the LEDs.

Like 1ags mentioned, Circuitboard Medics can do it, but they're ~$180.

Auto Circuit Solutions is $130 - https://www.automotivecircuitsolutions.com/products/09-14-ford-f150-instrument-cluster-speedometer-repair-service

Either service will give you the option of the changing the LED color if you want.

Ok, that's makes sense. I can't find any great videos on how to remove it but the manual makes it seem really simple. Am I underestimating how easy it is? Seems like 4 screws/bolts and that's it.

It should be 6 screws total. 2 to remove the cluster trim panel and then 4 to remove the cluster itself. There's a wiring harness on the back of the cluster. If you have a column shifter, you'll need to move it all the way down to get the cluster out.
