I just bought/ordered the wife a palisade calligraphy (Burgundy of course) and looking for recommendations. I've read some of the other threads regarding the subject but Fabian over in Katy seems a little far for us. Do y'all have any recommendations for Clear Lake area?

It's still on a boat in the pacific somewhere, so I have a little time to figure out/schedule what we get. That and the dealer hasn't installed anything.

How do they come straight from the factory?
Should I put a "clear" (90%) over the factory tint (rear, sun roofs) and also on windshield?
If they have 35% rear, what should I put on the front?
Does the front tint prevent fog?
Can I still treat it with RainX Anti fog?

Fabian is worth the drive, I was living in Galveston when he did my Golf.

Even when using ceramic, a darker tint will reject more heat. I'd do no lighter than 35% on front and no lighter than 80% elsewhere (presuming factory glass is 20%). I want to say his ceramic 20 actually meters at 25%, it's worth giving him a call to discuss.

If doing windshield, definitely have the work done in a shop and not at your house.

The dealer just told me that it has laminated front windows, so ceramic is probably not worth it. I just looked it up and sure enough, it has laminate glass (just like windshield). A little research on the matter indicates that this glass already blocks almost all the UV.

Still go ceramic? Does it make sense to do ceramic elsewhere and normal up front?

It may reject UV light, but it doesn't reject heat. Ceramic is well worth it and if you don't do it on one bit of the glass, you might as well not do it at all.

I went ahead and had air80 (ceramic) put on all the glass except drivers/passenger, went with llumar irx (ceramic 30%) for that since it didn't come with factory privacy glass. Fabian at MBI lives up to all the recommendations.

Still debating to get the windshield tinted. Planning to go near limo dark on the back and rear side glass. Obviously stay legal on front driver and passenger windows.

It's not cheap because ceramic film isn't cheap. I'm planning on having him to my latest vehicle with his mid-tier film, the IRX.

I paid $480 for everything on my 150 to be done. That included the windshield and sunroof all in ceramic. Windshield is 50% and I love it. Back windows are all limo on top of factory.

I have my windshield done with ceramic and love it - it's helped the AC so much during the brutal summers.

However, I had a tech 'Fail' my state inspection this past time. He said I could only have tint 'down to this line' which was basically where my visor would have ended.

I've had that tint for years and never had any issues. I failed so I didn't have to pay. I drove down the street to another place and passed with no questions. Really NBD but certainly a PITA.

Just purely an FYI.

Fabian just did the ole GX plus did an excellent job detailing it with extra attention to the headlights. They have become cloudy but wow. He did the windows in my house last year as well.

He limoed out the back so the local celebrity Hannah won't get mobbed by her fans, the kids.

Fabian is now at BW8 and I10 west. So not as far as Katy.

I was just there getting the Mercedes tinted on Wednesday. I went with a very light 50% ceramic. I like the fishbowl look with this particular paint color.

New boost goes next week to remove dealer garbage and ceramic murdering.

Tritek in Garland off of 635 and Kingsley is the Dallas shop that several users on here swear by. I have yet to use them, but plan to when the temps go up. There are not as many endorsements for Tritek as there are for Fabian. At times I have considered just driving down to Fabian's place, but that seems a bit extreme.
